  • Newbie Signing in !

I couldn’t spot a "newbie say hi" section so have taken a chance here ! Hi am Matt am 28 from Telford Shropshire. I’ve never owned a RC Helli before but plan to remedy that this Saturday with a trip over to Wheelspin in Cannock. It’s all my farther-in-laws fault really........Two weeks ago and the midland gamefair he bought a £25 3 channel electric helli for some fun as did his mate. They got home and the FIL`s mate broke his within 2 hours and the FIL had mastered his (he has a history of RC toys, but has had a 5-10 year break from it)So they headed to Wheelspin and got a upgrade for the FIL and his mate also got something more robust to! So having had a play myself am keen to join in the fun to and get something simple to use too so I can learn before climbing the ladder! What I have my eye on is what the FIL`s mate bought which was a Blade Scout CX (small indoor electric) sub £50 and a spare battery and a few spares to keep me going! Its 3 channel which is more than enough for me as with coordination etc am terrible and possibly one of the worst candidates there is to learn to do this but still am determined to get to a stage where I can fly something electric and outdoors around the back garden or the farm land I shoot over ! Nice to meet you all and any help and advice would be much appreciated! ATBMatt

        Hi and welcome,

It all depends on the time of day you first post. Generally this forum is populated by a great bunch of people willing to give advice to anyone!

You will find you are hooked before you know it and your sub £50 start is the beginning of a long and expensive journey BUT one that is really unbelieveable, there are so many milestones on the way you will always have something new to try.

Enjoy your flying and the all that the forum has to offer.

        Happy Landings!

Hi , the smaller stuff is good to learn on but will will outgrow them very quickly, I would start with a decent radio like a dx6i, a heli like the mcpx, and pheonix flight sim, do some research on the suggested. The blade mcpx is harder to fly than the blade cx scout as its collective pitch and is capable of aerobatics, where the scout is fixed pitch contra rotating (i think) and will just poodle around and you will get bored very quick.

keep asking questions you should have loads

                      Hi there and welcome

I was one if the 39 views but as I was on Tapatalk and it closed on me I waited until someone else said hello and bumped it back up to the top, nothing personal

Be prepared for your £50 start to multiply by 10 or even 100 fairly rapidly if you get into the hobby!! It's a cracking hobby but not bank balance friendly

I think the reason many people looked and said nothing is because many of us have seen it all before, £25:00 helicopters are not in the least (unfortunately) representative of the Hobby both in terms of truly learning to fly a Collective Pitch Helicopter, or of expense involved
