  • Newbie Signing in !

I couldn’t spot a "newbie say hi" section so have taken a chance here ! Hi am Matt am 28 from Telford Shropshire. I’ve never owned a RC Helli before but plan to remedy that this Saturday with a trip over to Wheelspin in Cannock. It’s all my farther-in-laws fault really........Two weeks ago and the midland gamefair he bought a £25 3 channel electric helli for some fun as did his mate. They got home and the FIL`s mate broke his within 2 hours and the FIL had mastered his (he has a history of RC toys, but has had a 5-10 year break from it)So they headed to Wheelspin and got a upgrade for the FIL and his mate also got something more robust to! So having had a play myself am keen to join in the fun to and get something simple to use too so I can learn before climbing the ladder! What I have my eye on is what the FIL`s mate bought which was a Blade Scout CX (small indoor electric) sub £50 and a spare battery and a few spares to keep me going! Its 3 channel which is more than enough for me as with coordination etc am terrible and possibly one of the worst candidates there is to learn to do this but still am determined to get to a stage where I can fly something electric and outdoors around the back garden or the farm land I shoot over ! Nice to meet you all and any help and advice would be much appreciated! ATBMatt

hi matt welcome to rcha if ya coordination isnt the best then mabe a coaxial heli might be a good start but may i sugest a 4 ch (believe it or not they are easier to fly) and if the controls are in the right place this will also be helpfull if u do take the plunge into the heli world. but dont be fooled, the real 1s are nothing like the toys have fun its an amazin hobby

    all the best terry

      Matt,

Trust me please go for a 4 channel, I personally don't know of any 3 Chanel heli that will fly in even the slightest breeze. I was in the same position as you and flew a 3 channel for 6 weeks, I then tried lots of 3 channels to fly in the garden with no more than a little breeze. I then changed to 4 channel and it took me 2 months to re learn.

I personally preferred going to a fixed pitched micro before a full collective. I now fly a 450 size or should I say still learning.

I recently saw a 4 channel micro recommended for a beginner and bought one from eBay mainly through curiosity as its only 28 quid. It is the most robust throw around heli I have ever owned even full speed straight into a wall ! Lights, fences, blinds as well. I don't think you would go far wrong. But it is much harder than a coaxial but worth the patients

This compares it to a trex 100
