  • not a beginner but slow learner

    so i have a blade mcpx and a 130X
i have the 130X all debugged and flying quite well. ds35 servo on the tail bocca bearings and givin to a pilot it looks amazing.
i can hover and stay in a foot circle. i can try nose in for a few seconds until it drifts away and i have to go tail in to save it.
i can stay in the air for 4 minutes and just fly around without crashing. i can do piroettes but both heils take off and need corection to not loose them.
pretty sure i have leval swash and their set up right.i have dx6i D/R set to 50 and expo on 40 cause im overcorrecting the sticks any higher.

i have the pheonix sim but i feel more in control with the real heli and cant seem to control the sim at all.

    ideas?

stick time. pheonix will never feel like a real heli as there is no pucker factor, but it is ideal for learning orientations and getting the finger/brain co-ordination down.

I learned nose in on the sim and then it translated very easily to the mcpx, and once you can hold that nose in for a pack a big helicopter is easy.

try to have a strict period of time where you just work on basics.
I used to blat around all over the place in the sim and forgot about working on stuff. try doing 10 minutes of hovering with nose in and slow pirouettes and lazy eights etc...

do that every day for a couple of weeks and you will get it. I would steer clear of the mcpx in the sim until you can fly something a bit bigger it doesn't fly too well and I don't find it at all realistic. try a 450 or up it will soon click and you will wonder why you were worried.

you have a good safe base to return to so with the real birds you should be ok to keep doing as you are, when it gets out of hand spin around get it back and continue..

in the sim there are settings you can change to tune up/down the heli response. I find about 80% is the most realistic I think it defaults to about 50% so the helicopters can feel a bit numb and dont respond as they would in real life. try going into settings, then quick settings (iirc) and wind the dial around to 80%.

remember this is supposed to be fun
