Careful on the throttle a freshly charged batt will make her go up like a rocket.

Do nice small jumps and as confidence builds those jumps will become small hovers, then longer hovers.

Don't become disheartened when you crash, as you will trust me, we all did, that's why it's a hobby heli so bent or broken parts can be replaced to turn her as good as new ready for the next crash.

        Good luck fella.

Got my heli today,Lama 4.....probably a stupid question but should the top and bottom blades be parrallel to each other or at 90 degrees also they were folded back to be packed in the box i have straightened em out so do i now tighten up the clamping screws so they are tight and there is no movement in the blades??

Sorry about the dumb questions but i don't want to break it even though i probably will

Congrats mate well done on your purchase.

Just straighten out the blades it doesn't matter what position there in so long as there straight.

Charge up the batt, check over the instructions, don't rush, then gently throttle her up until you get a feel for her.

Your soon find where the bite on the throttle is where your heli will lift, I say take it slow but when she's about to take flight give it a little more power so the skids are off the ground, or the carpet will drag her sideways.

You won't break a blade if this happens but getting those skids off the deck before they can influence the direction of flight due to dragging is the first of a few hurdles your have to win over.

But its great fun, enjoy, and order some spare blades while your thinking about it.

Well with the battery fully charged and installed i managed a few bunny hops..about three inches off the floor

All the time the heli was ready to lift i was watching too see which way it was drifting and corrected the corrosponding trim until i could hover at about 12 inches off the ground.

The room i was practicing in did'nt really have enough space, probably only 5 foot by 6 foot of safe space but i can now fly round and round by just making small, steady adjustments on the controls

One small mishap up to now,i was flying round quite happily when i gave to much throttle and up she goes at an incredible rate towards the ceiling...i panicked shut off the throttle and heli comes down like a brick...wacked open the throttle again and whizzing back up it goes...throttle off and it thumps to the floor...only the balance bar came off and after popping that back on she's flying again....kids thought my face was a real laugh in its panicked state

I think this is going to be a very addictive hobby with a very large learning curve

Sounds like your doing great Al, I haven't much experience to offer right now but I'm OK with the contras, and if I can pass on a piece of info that I found out the hard way then I'm more than happy too.

You see what I mean by going up like a rocket, don't worry it wont be the last time you do it, your doing the right thing keep her low so you can land in a heart beat at this stage.

small spaces soon create alot of turbulance. fly for a few seconds land wait 30 secs and try again.
first lesson learned ...dont panic relax its fun!!! a bit like colonic irrigation i believe!!

Oh yes it certainly opens the bowls on a few occasions.

Ron made a bloody good point I forgot about, turbulent air can cause many near misses and hits, this is something you have to learn by yourself, like learning to ride a bike kind of thing.

That is a good point Ron made and i have noticed that after say a couple of minutes it seems to get a bit trickier especially if i'am hovering close to the front of the sofa etc....could be the turbulance...or me

it only takes a few seconds in a small room and can even effect a large room after a few minutes!! soon settles down though

In an earlier post i asked if the blades had to be straight and tightened up as i have done with mine, but take a look at this at about 1 min 50 seconds in and u will see what i meant....

The blades shouldnt be tightened to much you should be able to move them in the blade grips and feel a little friction,
They will move to the right position as the heli spools up a bit of wobbling is normal at this stage
