  • Newby going from Fixed wing to Helis

    Hi Guys

We have purchased a Trex 600 Nitro Limited Edition, as a way into the world of Heli flying.

The first challenge we have is getting he basic programing into the TX. We use a Futaba 12FG and the basic programing askes what type of swash is being used. I have eight options.

    H1
    H2
    H3
    H4
    HR3
    HN3
    HE3
    H4x

CAn some one tell me the basics for the TX?

    All the best

    Welcome to the site.

Sorry I can't help with the Futaba settings, but I am sure somebody will be along with the answer

It's HR3 you need if it's a flybarred machine. If its flybarless then it depends on your FBL gyro.

          Thanks guys,

The Heli is my sons, I am the guy who has to make it work. I hope I dont have you all fed up with my silly questions over the next few weeks.

We have a club member who is going to set up the mixers but he was sumped with the basics as he is not a Futaba guy. I feel this could be a long process with both of us taking a learning step.

The model is currenly fitted with flybar, but we have an Align 3Gx FBL systo fit to the model. We are not sure if we should leave it "as is" for a start or have the model updated before we start.

Stick with it. The futaba radios take a bit of head scratching to get your head around, but once you have it sussed, the options are limitless. The 12FG is a top piece of kit.
                    Cheers,

What is so bad with the 3Gx system?

Some guys love it others hate it.

With the latest update and a bit of tweaking you can get them working really well I've flown them on a 600 & a 700 and thought they were really good! I think you just have to set the heli up perfect mechanically first!
