  • Does any one have a Dragonfly micro heli

Does any one have a Dragonfly. If you do, can you tell me how good it fly's? Can you compare it with the Hummingbird or the Piccolo?
I think most of the micro heli's are made in Hong Kong but come under a different name from wholesalers. Am I correct on this. What is your opinion? :?:

    Hi Belair,

I have a Dragonfly, but as a complete newbie I don't feel qualified to comment on the flyability! (The fact I never got ot off the ground being another reason!) ops:

I can, however, comment on the quality. Although the build quality was generally good, the radio gear that came with the heli seem very poor. I had to order a new servo almost immediately as the internal gears stripped and the thing would only rotate clockwise. One of the reasons I never got it hovering (let alone off the ground) was a random pulsing pull to the left (from airleron servo) that made the thing fall over even with the training gear! It was extremely frustrating!

It did prompt me to buy my Rappy so it wasn't all bad!
(And the Tx is useful for the sim!)

    Hope this info is useful,

    Rob.

      Hi Rob,
Thanks for your reply. Can you tell me where you bought it? Did you buy it via internet? If so was the transaction ok?

It was bought for me for christmas by my partner, Gemma.

        She bought it from www.radio-controlled-toys.com.

They only accept payment via PayPal.

This is also where I bought the spares, and the delivery time was excellent! Joel who runs the site also responded to HELP ME e-mails swiftly, even though I still haven't got it working right!

I recommend getting an extra battery pack as it only lasts 5 or 6 mins on a two hour charge.

Keep us informed if you get it flying - I am in trouble for neglecting it and spending every waking hour tinkering with the Raptor - I could do with getting back in the good books!

        Rob.

          Hi Rob,
I went to the site and I see that it is a England based site. You can buy them direct from China on the net or on e-bay. I think I will get one to try out. Could take some time. I will let you know how I get on.
          Cheers

            Belair,

I'm still not very internet wise, it wouldn't have crossed my mind to order direct from China!

            Good luck and goede gezondheid!

            Rob.

                Belair,

                Er, not really!! ops:

I was messing around with the 'Babel Fish' translator earlier and thought it would be a nice touch!

Ik knoeide rond met 'Babel Fish' de vertaler zou vroeger en gedacht het een aardige aanraking zijn!

                Try it on http://www.altavista.com/help/free/f...archbox_transl

I rather suspect your English will always be better than my Dutch!

I realise I have got off the subject a bit here and apologise!

                Rob.

                      Hi Guys,

                      1st Post!

I got a Dragonfly from Hong Kong at Christmas from the wife. You need to check that everything is working before starting the heli.. Unplug the motor and check everything is ok and working.

I have the 22D version and its VERY robust. I have crashed it loads of time and I just picked it up and off I went again.

Its a rip off of a MS Hornet. The parts are the same and the nice thing is you can buy them from Skyline Models.

The radio gear is a little on the cheap side to be kind. It will do the job, but I decided to change mine. I had a spare receiver and I have a JR TX for my gliders. I then purchased a gyro from eBay for 30 and a speed controller for 18 and its much better.. This was my choice as the original did work

The battery is a little weak so I purchased the li-ion form eBay. Much more power and much longer flight times.

Have a look at this vid to see it in flight. My mate can fly a little better then i can at you will see. [ame]http://www.willisonline.co.uk/videos/Dragonfly.wmv[/ame]

All I can say is if you want something fun thats not going to cost too much or if you are new then get one of these. Even if you dont get on with it and move on, you have only spent 90ish and not 400+

Well thats my thought on this for now,

                      Cheers

                      Neil

Bet BobJ will be pleased to hear that Hornet copies are being brought in from Hong Kong and he gets to supply the spares!!
                        Dave
If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

                          is it a GWS

If it is, they are the same as the Hummingbird, and they fly well once you get them set up and used to the damn things. They are well built, and as durable as you can get. But I do agre with the cheap electronics bit. Good luck with it, I think mine is great!!!
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                          And a DX8 too
