  • Advice please: Is this normal...?

As you know, I spooled my CPX up for the first time today, and was just getting it light on the skids, feeling how she responds and gently throttling down again. I had been at it a while and when I went to spin her up again she got to about 50% throttle then powered down.

Is this a normal failsafe because my battery had got low? The said battery did take the same time to charge as it did yesterday.

    Anyone?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

That sounds like it is indeed to me. The best test would be to have another battery fully charged ready to go and plugging that in and taking off, give that a go perhaps...

    Cheers

Cheers for the reply...sad thing is the shop had run out of these batteries so only have one :-( It's charged and ready to test tomorrow though, the not knowing until then is killer :-/

You could try checking the battery voltage with a multimeter, being careful not to short it.

Sounds just like mine - nothing to worry about - time just goes so quick when your enjoying yourself.

Have you got a timer on your tx?

I have mine set to 4 mins cutting in at 25% throttle which works just fine for gentle flying. Occasionally I push the limits up to a minute after this and that is when I experience the cut out as you have described....

I dont think there is a timer on my TX...but I'm feeling a lot better about this now, I'm sure it's normal. I had been throttling up n down for a while when she cut out, and I guess that would use the battery up faster than just taking off and flying around for a bit. The battery is off a 3D Storm and is slighty higher capacity than a CPX battery, it also takes 2.5 hrs to charge with the supplied charger, instead of the hour that the stock battery should take.

Anyway, gonna go spin her up and see how we get on...wish me luck :-)

              Battery from a 3D storm! ? *Is that a single-cell (3.7v) ? * What's the mAh rating on that?

Either way, the behaviour is normal, but it's not good practice to run a lipo that low.*

Tom, not sure how many cells (complete noob to all things RC) the charger says 3-cell tho, nothing on battery itself. The battery from the Storm is same voltage as the CPX battery of course(11.1v) but the mAh is slightly higher at 1800mAh.

Yesterday was first spool up since home from the shop, and I had no idea that I'd run it that low tbh. Just tested her out and all is good, I guess it IS a failsafe.

It's pretty difficult to time how long you've been, and how much life you've taken out of battery when you're just spooling up and down (getting light on skids) rather than taking off, flying, and landing.

Thank you all for your input.

I confess, I'm confused. I thought you were talking about a blade mcpx. Do you mean a blade cp? Never heard of a cpx!?
