oh my gosh! CP...what a difference

So, I got a Twister CPX a few days ago...just found the courage to spool her up after I worked out how to assemble the training gear...ummm, wow! Now I know it was the first tentative steps of a long journey, but initial thoughts are, "I dont know if it's setup properly, if I've trimed it sweetly, or if it's really that much harder than 4 channel SR FP and I am not as ready as I thought I was..."

It's crazy. Crazy good, but crazy none-the-less!

Just thought I'd share.

Stick with it Gibbo, CP is a bit different to FP for sure. Try to get someone to look it over for you to check the radio settings, etc, then continue from there. Good luck :-)

Cheers Murph, will do. I've been harrassing my local model shop a bit lately, think I will some more I gotta say, it's only a 250 but boy it feels big compared to a Nano SR hehe

CP is much more rewarding not only because of the skills involved but also the agility of the heli makes for crazy maneuverability.

Stick with it, it's worth it. I have to admit I have never flown a co-axial or fixed pitch heli.

Cheers John. I went from micro co-ax to fixed pitch SR to CP in a couple of months...all I have learned so far is for not a lot, as CP is so much different. Had another little go on thursday night at the club I've sort of formed...madness, pure adrenalin fuelled madness

Looking forward to meeting up with nobbycopter for him to give my heli a once over, see if it's set up properly.

Loving this hobby, 33 years in the waiting...

I thought that, but it seems there is no expo function on my TX It's one of these, fancy having a gander, see if i've missed it or it's called someting else on this one?

OMG - I had one - it's the one that comes with Twister Storm 3D. I had one with my Storm; it was 35meg though - had the long aerial.

I couldn't use my JR with the Twister so I had to fit a compatible Rx. That was because the Twister radio was not ppm (I think I have got that right, I think it is pcm). I think I just slung the instruction booklet in the last few days. It even had ratchet on the left stick and was awful.

I always found my Storm to be a great flier but I wanted to use my own radio so I could actually add expo (and other stuff) and it made a real difference. The Storm 3D IMHO was not a heli for a beginner but the radio doesn't help.

I am going to see if the instruction booklet is still in the TV papers pile waiting to be slung out.

my first heli was a Esky honeybee fp which i had spent a couple of months learning to hover with, then decided to try a 450, and what an eye opener that turned out to be. It was so stable in hover in comparison.

Hands up who had a butt clenching moment switching to Idle up for the first time ?

Take it back to the model shop you bought it from and make them fly it.
If they can't ask for your money back
If they won't give it to you go to the CAB
Then join a model flying club and seek advice from members on where to start - it won't be with one of these.

I started with a Twister CP (the old 35mhz) model and wasted a good 6 months of my life trying to fly it. It was the biggest load of junk you'll ever see in this hobby. There's clearly a case under the trade descriptions act for a prosecution!

ps: the Fixed Pitch versions are tolerable - but not as good as say a Blade 120SR, but the CP versions, forget.

Is the twister Collective Pitch the same as the Storm 3D or Gold etc.

The Storm 3D is a great flier but I would certainly not recommend it to a person learning to hover for the first time and the radio is total pants. I can't speak for other versions but I guess the story is the same.

It's very quick - like I said - twitchy so it will grab you by the a** if you aren't on top of it.

Also it is another example of a narrow skids machine.

I just built a tiny Cypher and it flies rock steady, way better to learn on and use than a Twister 3D but the twister has the edge in the air.

Theres only dual rate in your TX but that will still help to make it less twitchy....

I had a blast with it on thursday eve, yeah it's a bit twitchy, but so am I Managed a wee hover with her so I dont think it's going to be too bad in the long run. If I think about it, my first attempts with my Nano SR had me thinking that I would never fly it, but now I can throw it around pretty well.

As for throwing it/returning it, nah, I quite like it tbh, and...once my £coin savings tin is full(and I'm more experienced) I shall be investing in something by Align...I'm taken by them more so than by a Blade.

Either way, I'm just happy to be on a road that I've been wanting to travel since I was 6!
