I really couldn't get on with phoenix I couldnt even get a hover even after many many hours, i then bought an mcpx got to hover that after a while and then went back on phoenix and I could hover with that ! So the mcpx was my real life sim that taught me to hover on phoenix, very backward don't you think :-)

I was still pretty hopeless with phoenix and could do much better with a real 450 until I got some excellent advice on here, turn the simulation speed down in the settings to 90% bingo it now flys almost the same as my 450

Okay, so mcpx is a good choice then?

It's certainly a really good heli (make sure you get a v2 model if buying 2nd hand). Do be patient and certainly practice in the first instance either outside, or in a big space (eg. sports hall). My personal tip would be to do your research too. I've seen youtube videos of people having "problems" with the mcpx which were in fact, just not understanding it. Top two newbies mistakes (imho) are 1/. Not keeping heli flat until gyros initialise, causing tip-over problems on take-off... and 2/. Not understanding the natural drift on take off caused by tail rotor thrust (translational tendency).

          Good luck!
