Gaz, I think your right I'm far too close to the ground, your also right about the tail, I have watched it over and over and it seems the tail blips then spins. its a thunder tiger innovator and they have a unique 3 in 1 servo, I bought the heli used for spares so looks like its time to break out the new new one I still have boxed and retire this one as originally bought for spares :-)

    Thanks again

That means you will be ready for the weekend then... Give that tail rotor a really thorough going over though, bearings, belt or driver road, the whole nine yards....

Get it higher, maybe as you go left to right ascend and descend until you are bit more relaxed?

        Cheers,

        Gaz

Haven't had much chance to get out lately but I managed to get a few flights yesterday. I've been doing whats suggested, any hints or tips or criticism on what to do next or keep doing would be much appreciated.

          Thanks

I bought an mcpx, learnt to hover that and then I could hover on phoenix, I couldnt get nose in on phoenix, I bought a cheap fixed pitch and learnt with that and now I can do it with phoenix. Very strange.
I've certainly found that the smaller helis have helped - you've already got an mcpx. *The 130x might be a good bet too ?

              hi again

Would suggest your factory site a bit restricted in truth, too many worrying hard stops! Also.... yep get it higher. You can clearly control the ship, as you are stopping, hovering and manouvering. So all the sticks are waggling and the model is controlled. But your not banking and flying in a more fluid style and I think this is confidence, and some height and distance and dare I say a little speed in the turns is going to make the flight much better, and allow you to progress. Like I say, I am a re starting beginner but I used to fly just like you with my Shuttle, exactly like you and it was only when I started going higher did the flying improve and the fear factor gradually gets managed!!! A less closed in site would probably be easier too, less distractions on the eye! Cheers, Gaz

Thanks Gaz, your right about too much to look at, its really strange how I feel more comfortable near the ground, the ground is the enemy, mind you they do say keep your friends close and your enemies closer :-) maybe not in this case though.

The field I normally use was being cut on that day but im going to get back there as soon as I can and get some height.

                Thanks again for your help.

                  Ritchie,

I really do understand how you feel, its the "let it go" type of thing. Give you a good reason though, last week I was flying, I had not realised my main tank was not emptying but the topper was, so I could see 1/3rd left, I was flying about 35-40 foot and had just slowed up nearly into a hover when the engine quit.

I managed to react enough to deal with the forced auto and did not smash to pieces, heavy landing and a boom strike which only dented the boom!!

Had I been lower, then, kapow, zot, all los endos!

Have you got a simulator? Deffo get one, the muscle memory can be programmed and you can fly at a little dot version with no risks or danger. I would say why not try climbing to 30 feet when you go from side to side, and gently drop back again, so you get used to the height but from a confidence point of view you will be lower when you turn, and gradually stop coming down for the turns!!!! It is practice, it is confidence but it will get there, keep on at it!!! Gaz
