tail rotor fins loose

Hi.thanks for all the info.another question.
I've just got my honey bee king 2 and am setting up..the tail fins on the rear rotor are very loose and flop about,is this right or how do I align them,

They defo shouldnt flop about. Just look down the boom, get them nice and straight by eyesight and tighten them.

Do you mean the vertical and horizontal fins attached to the boom - or the tail rotor blades attached to the tail rotor hub assembly?

Blades don't want to be flopping about, but not so tight they cannot move either. They need to "fold" out under centrifugal force when spinning.

Fins - tighten them right up

the vetical fin shouldnt move. if it does then the whole boom is probably twisting with it. check the boom is tight where it goes into the main frame. the horizontal fin shouldnt move either. you should hane boom supports that attach undernieth the horizontal fit. just check every is straight and then go round it and make sure all the nuts and bolts are tight. but not to tight. use threadlock. also check the motor screws. what version have you got? the brushed motor or brushless.

Thanks for that,yes I did meen the tail rotor blades,the ones that spin round,I'm still getting used to the names of the components,sorry.
So I take it that they should be tight but allow to move a bit under pressure,as in the main rotor blades.

Terminology eh - sucks!

If the blade grips are not too tightly holding the blades, then you should try to get the blades tight enough to hold their position under their own weight when horizontal.

If the blades are a tight fit into the grips anyway (i.e. just fitting the blades into the grips stops them moving under their own weight), then just don't overtighten them.

the gyro on both my honey bee king2s and my belt cp are the same and they have been set at reverse.

first make sure the switch on the top left is switched away from you or it will be in 3d mode and the blades will start spinning even at the lowest throttle position. make sure the rudder trim is in the middle and the throttle trim is at lowest position. make sure the heli is on a flat surface when you plug the lipo in and dont move or knock it while the gyro sets itself. if the heli turns on its own you can stop it with the rudder trim but you would be better to adjust this by loosening and moving/sliding the rudder servo up or down the boom and then retightening. do this because if the rudder trim isnt in the middle when you next plug the lipo in then the gyro wont set.

dont try anything fancy with your heli - just learn the hover. stay behind the tail and dont let it turn more than 45 degrees because you will easily get disorientated.

hope this helps and you dont smash your heli to bits.

yep - norm/rev/norm/rev.

just make sure that switch on the top is pushed back away from you when holding the transmitter. there should be a safty mode and the heli shouldnt start if its in 3d mode or the throttle stick isnt at the bottem when you plug the lipo in.

also make sure you dont knock the 3d switch while the helicopter is already on.

crashed and burned

Hi Mat thanks for that,tried a power up int a low hover but it tipped to one side and the rotor blades got snagged on the rear fin,at which point it started to smoke and wouldn't shut down the rotor wasn't turning because of the snag so i disconnected battery.It' burnt out the speed control unit,House stinks,ar well, any idea where I can get a new one from and why would it tip over so dramatically only a few inches off the floor.

sorry to hear that vic. thats how helicopters fly. very sensitive on the sticks. did you not have the training legs on??? you can get the esc from anywhere. get the part number off the old 1 or out of the manual and have a look on ebay or put the part number in your search engine and have a shop round.

for your first heli you should of really bought a blade cx2 and a phoenix rc flight sim.
every1 on here will tell you the same. (get a cx2 and phoenix sim)

you could try opening a new thread and request/try and find a rcheliaddict member in your area who you can meet up with and get some help/advice/lessons.
you will find that the people on here are so friendly and helpfull and will try and help you anyway they can.
