To expand on Phils comment, all my models switch positions are the same on the Tx so there is no problem with incorrectly set switches
Yeah but I'm a slacker and can't be arsed to check each different heli uses the same switch direction...and then there are the planks as well

Whichever way you look at it there is no need for it, Footaba forcing their will again. Same thing with their high end gyros being about 3 times the weight of all the others, 2 boxes to mount and I won't mention the GV-1

Connectors as well with stupid flanges on...need I go on

Oh yeah and I broke one of my 401 cases, bought another one and lo and behold you need a special screwdriver to remove the old case even though you can buy the new case freely enough

    Dark Ages springs to mind

              Welcome mate.
I would think if like myself you're starting from scratch then the 401 will be fine for at least a year or so I can't imagine you going from newbie to hard 3d in less than that time. Interesting choice of starter Heli ... what made you go there or was it a gift ?

Hi guys, once again thanks for all the replys, ill go with the GY401 then upgrade later if i ever get to that stage!! Bubblefish, its a christmas present, the reason for me going with a 50 size heli was i have heard (i dont know if its true or not) but the 50's are a bit more stable than the 30's, it was between the TREX 600 sport, or the Thunder Tiger Titan, i went with the TREX as this seems to be the heli of choice this year (once again i might be wrong, i usually am) There have been quite a few self-taught heli pilots down my local club, all who have started on the 50 sizes without problems, so im just going with what they have said

                  thanks guys

Trex 600 is a fine choice - you'll love flying it, and the 401 will suit you for a long time to come!

                    Happy flying
                    Cheers,

Well good luck. I did a similar sort of thing....went CX2 and sim...then HoneyBee Belt CP (gave it away as I hated it) bought some lessons and built a 600e. I've flown my 600e only once so far and it scares the crap out of me when I'm on my own ..... It's hugely awe inspiring for a newbie to the point where when I'm not with my instructor it really un-nerves me a bit....the turbine sound of it spinning up though is just amazing... love electrics I just can't get the image and thought out of my head which is continually whispering ' What ya gonna do if those blades come off ' Creeps me out a bit.....well a lot...those dodgy injury vids don't help either.
