What do these actually do and how do they translate? In laymen's terms?

What are dual rates and why adjust?

If you set a rate of 100% then the servo or control moves fully from one end to the other. If you set a rate of 50% then the servo or control only moves half the distance in either direction (from centre). It makes something less twitchy because it allows a stick movement to be larger for a smaller change in the servo or control. Sorry, that's the best I can manage.

Cheers for that, i have been trying to dial in some expo for the steering response on my race buggy but didnt notice any difference no matter how much expo i added, after reading that i now understand that on futaba sets you have to go negative on the expo doh.Originally posted by Pabs View Post

In the context of your earlier question you might want to look at the BeastX/AR7200BX manual as well to understand the slight differences in what the Dual Rates do when you have a FBL unit between you and the servos.
Same overall effect, but if you try to see the difference in the servo movements you might get confused again as unlike a flybar set up where the dual rates will actually limit servo travel which you can directly see on the swash when you move the sticks, with the FBL setup you have, you are changing the rate of rotation that you are commanding the FBL unit to perform but not limiting the servo travel that it has available to achieve it.
If you always look at the graphs which are on screen you should find it easier than trying to remember which is which. The flatter it gets around the center the more you have to move the stick to get the same output, the steeper the graph the less you have to move to get the same result, so flat = insensitive, steep = sensitive.Originally posted by animal47 View Post... after reading that i now understand that on futaba sets you have to go negative on the expo doh.
