Hello there, I am 100% inexperienced in this subject, never ever touched an RC Helicopter or seen one flying (except on youtube)

BUTTTT.... I am getting one for Christmas, because, now I can afford these soft of things, i've always liked something like this.

I never knew there was so much work involved in flying these etc, but so before I get one, can I get some experienced answers?

    1) How much does a basic/starter but decent RC Helicopter cost?

    2) How much do they cost to run on gas?

    Thank you lads!

1st things 1st find a local club get local help and advice go see these things in action.

You can find the BMFA Club list here:

The startup cost is around 800-1000 pounds fully set up and fuel is about 18 pounds a gallon (USA Gallon). The tank lasts 12-15 mins depending what your doing.

        Hi,
I've just started and made the mistake of trying to start on something far too responsive. I very quickly trashed it , and it cost nearly as much to repair as is was to buy.
My advice would be to buy a contra rotating Heli, something like the CX2 or a Twister Hawk/Coastguard.
You can have fun by flying more or less straight away, and you learn some control as well. They're also cheap to repair.
I've now bought a Century GL450 SE (which I'm told is a poor mans Trex 450), and am taking it really slow. I've managed to get it off the ground and back, but still can't get into a stable hover in one spot.

        Have fun.
