  • Setup my radio

    Hi

I'm completely new to this hobby & have just purchased a Hirobo Shuttle Sceadu & Futaba T6x radio.

I would be gratefull if I could be grateful for some help to get me started and have a couple of questions .

From reading the manual the radio seems to be setup as mode 2. What is the standard mode for flying in the UK?

My throttle controls are on the right hand side of the radio , can these be swapped to the left hand easily & how?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Johnyboy
Welcome to the world of RC heli's. Most people have the throttle on the left hand side (Mode 1). I am not that familier with the T6x, but you should be able to change this. Look in your manual for the radio under "Changing transmitter mode". You will need to open the back of the radio to swap the elevator centering mechanism and the throttle detent mechanism over as well as setting the radio to Mode 1.
    Good luck

I suggest you do some research on this site as the subject has been well disscused many times.
Just to clear up the Mode thing.
The most common mode in flying helicopters is mode 2 - throttle on the left hand stick with the tail rotor control and the for/aft and roll cyclic on the right stick.
In mode 1 the throttle and the for/aft "elevator " are swopped round.
There are other variations to these as well but these are the most common.
If your going to fly with a group you might consider using the most common mode in that group then you can get help when you need it.

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

        Thanks for your replys.

I take your point & Ill more research thro your website & others to build up my knowledge.

From following the manual I was able to swap modes easy enough & reset the memory but it still didnt change the throttle to the left hand stick so I had a look at the radio manufacturers website.
