Had a great days flying today - managed to loose the training u/c and even ventured into forward / sideward flight. Especially pleased that most of the fixed wing boys were edgy about flying due to the wind - it's all good!

I must admit - it was awesome to see the heli leave the hover for the first time with me at the sticks - I'm not the most accomplished hoverist but can land safely and move the heli to where I want it. I also realised that I was getting slightly handed and had to force myself to fly the heli from right to left side on whereas I was happy going from left to right side on, soon knocked that on the head though - need to try an 8 soon :eeksigpicX2

Im still using my UC on my Raptor 50 and have done a Gallon of fuel so far. Getting the basic hover nailed now. Just need to perfect it and get moving about (tail in) mastered yet. Wont be long tho i hope, depends on the weather
Kind Regards

I would really like to but keep getting mixed messages from everyone on here, and who i fly with. I will keep them on a little longer till im 100% happy that i can land super smooth. I still come down a bit heavy sometimes, lol.
Thanks for the advice, will keep you updated
Kind Regards

Garry, I must admit that I kinda knew I was ready to ditch them before I cut the tie-wraps that held them to the Heli - I was lucky enough to have some moral support from another heli flyer there too whilst I was on the flight line who was just re-assuring me throughout. If you're still a bit edgy then my advice (for what it's worth at this stage) would be to go with what you're comfortable with. If you prefer to keep the UC on then that's the right thing for you - I guess I was ready at my time and you'll be ready at yours - just keep enjoying it, it was a huge buzz for me to cut them off and have a successful flight but if I'd have crashed it'd be a different story for sure.
Take care,

I took my U/C off after about 6 flights, well i say i took it off when actually it was one of the guys that was teaching me to fly took it off for me when i wasn't looking
Glad he did though, i would bnever have done it otherwise!!! I found that it was easier to land without it mainly because i felt that i was landing heavily just because the U/C was there to stop the heli tipping!
