  • DX7 and DX8 settings

Can anyone tell me if you have a 500 set up on a DX7, can you just copy the setting onto your DX8 and the 500 work the same?

The only setting I had to change from my dx7 to dx8 was gyro sense- this was for a trex 450 sport-same principle should apply to your 500, I just copied over the same settings and for safety reasons, disconnected the motor
and tried the new setup, you may have to fine tune some settings but it should just copy over, more or less..

Don't forget to bind the heli to the new tx( had me stumped when mine didn't the work first time, then the penny dropped !!!)

Take your time and double check before the first flight...

your heli will be more responsive in dsmx mode feed in 10 more positive expo.... you may find you have to reduce your percentage end points to 90 on swash rather than expo - depends how you fly... and my raptor settings from dx6i I had to reverse ele swash from + to - and also reverse servo so please just be careful....

also check your monitor screens for gyro function... my 780 in dx7s - similar to dx8 - has -32 +32 - just the way the radio sees the ratte and heading hold... my gy401 prior to this was -32 and + 68

      Hope that helps

Let us know how you get on..... there was one setting I had to disable casue it was in fmode and needed disabling.... but my mate sorted that out for me...

I would bin the settings from the dx7 and redo the heli on the DX8. That way you know there are no gremlins in the set-up
and also get a chance to go through the settings on the dx8 in a bit more detail.

I think coping from one dx8 to another would be fine but not from one tx model to another.

        Thx

          Hi xWOODYx,

          I have a DX7 / DX8 & Trex 500.
I went straight onto the DX8 with my 500, but had to copy my 450 from DX7 to DX8.
I would agree with nicobec above. I found that my subtrims were slightly off and in general the values were not an exact straight copy.

My advice would be to start from scratch - as I did.

I agree with the above, I have done the same thing for my 500 and 600. first thought it might be enough to copy the settings over ... well while doing the setups I have realised that some settings were off or completely off even - after going over the mechanical setup againI realised that I even optimized some parts of it due to the over time gained experience for example I had possible throw of +/-17.6degrees - so completely even though I had to reduce it to get to a lower value .. generally it doesnt take that long but you can be sure that everything works as should and not need to rely on maybes ...

              I went from DX7 to DX8 on my 500.
The cyclic came out slower, and the tailcame out faster with too much gain on the tail. But I could bang it about pretty hard straight away, just got a few tail wags going fast backward.
I don't remember needing to reverse anything, but I checked that before takeoff!

Looks like the general consensus of opinion is start from scratch.
