  • Belt CP With all the upgrades

    Well as per the title.

I've been learning to fly by myself (no friends, awww.....) and started on the Twister CP V2 and got the Belt CP standard version.

I have managed to not wreck it everytime it goes in the air now and decided to upgrade the Belt to the Carbon version along with all the upgrades for it that the Fast Lads carry.

So It was finished today, essentially a new Heli. Alloy cnc bering blocks for the tail spindle and main gear, Alloy cnc tail boom holder and supports, Alloy tail rotor gearbox and grips, Alloy Main head, Carbon Frames and Tail boom etc etc. You get the picture.

So first flight, Wow what a difference. I went with Align 315 Pro wood blades and apart from adjusting the rudder it flys VERY nicely.

A lot more precise is maybe the best way to describe it but its like night and day from the standard Belt CP.

So there I was nearing the end of the first battery getting comfy and hovering at head height when I heard a short 'screeing' sound maybe 1/2 a second long. Like a pillock I dropped the throttle and decked it!

On inspection it looks like the sticky ESKY label came off the motor and thats what made the noise. Very annoyed with myself for just dropping the throttle!

On order from Fast Lads :-

    1 x HS1159-01 315 PRO Rotor Blade/White (HS1159-01) = £8.59
    1 x EK1-0505 Landing Skid Stops (EK1-0505) = £1.99
    1 x EK1-0503 Tail Drive Belt (EK1-0503) = £4.25
    1 x EK4-0153 Belt Carbon Tail Boom (EK4-0153) = £9.49
    1 x EK1-0543 Landing Skid Set (EK1-0543) = £5.99
    1 x EK1-0541 Tail Boom Supports (EK1-0541) = £4.25
    1 x EK5-0201 CNC Main Blade Grips (EK5-0201) = £9.49
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Sub-Total: £44.05
UK Royal Mail Rates (Shipping to GB : 0.64 kg(s)): £2.80
    Total: £46.85

Not too bad I suppose. Should have it all by Tuesday morning and ready to fly again for next weekend.

Oh and Fast Lads are outstanding! Cheapest place for the parts I have found and very helpful on the phone etc.

Overall I like the Belt CP now. It looks and feels like a quality peice of kit. Still cant wit to buy a T-rex 450 though.

hard luck there mate the worst part is the going from a top notch flying machine to a pile of shit on your carpet. its a good idea to buy another heli to fly if things go wrong or even the same model so you have a full spares backup. i did that with my first heli a twister 3D.

thanks for posting this about the belt cp. i have 1 myself. its only the standard version at the moment and i have only flown it a handfull of times.
i am going to upgrade my belt cp with all the upgrades you mentioned and after that i am going to put it in an esky airwolf scale cabin. ive done some shopping around and i think you will agree that the link below is the cheapest available for them. they also sell esky carbon blades and other upgrades but the cnc parts are cheaper on ebay.

fibreglass airwolf w/retacts, carbon fibre main & tail blades for £100(shipping included)
      http://www.esky-heli.com/esky-belt-c...o-pr-1767.html

cnc head and tail upgrades - ebay £55.98(shipping included)
      http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=017

cnc tail gear box £11.98(shipping included)
      http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=017

the above links are what im getting for my belt cp.

think i will take the sticker off my motor too. anyway - keep us informed on your progress and please pass on any advice and tips you have on the belt cp.
      thanks matt

you can get a complete brandnew belt cp without any electrics for about £40 of ebay. i cant remember if it included a brushless motor or not. its only the standard version and doesnt come with any of the cnc/carbon upgrades but still probably worth having to take bits off.

price up how much it would cost you to build a complete belt cp from parts without the electrics. lots more than £40 i think.

yea im sure you're right there. i found the main problem with the twister is the receiver/mixer, its very prone to breaking, either that or ive just been unlucky cos at the moment i have 2 fully working twisters but both need new receivers and they are £34 a go so that £68. i think it might be better to buy another rtf twister complete package for another tenner or cheaper on ebay lol

maybe you should try a century hummingbird 4 in 1 mixer from a v3 or v4 hummingbird. its probably better quality than the jp twister 4 in 1.

there are many 4 in 1 units that will work - they have 2 servo channels a main motor/tail motor mixer. venom night ranger4ch, esky honey bee4ch, walkera4ch, spyhawk4ch. all of these have a 4 in 1 unit that will work on your twister.

id get the hummingbird 4 in 1 mixer but you want to steer clear of the walkera mixers/helis. the esky mixers arnt too bad.

thanks for the info and the link. so does that mean they all use esky mixers or are they actually different brands? cos i wouldn't mind trying something else other than esky they are too delicate.
                cheers

they are all different brands - you got a jp mixer in your twister.

                  jp make the twister etc

                  esky make the honeybee etc

                  century make the hummingbird etc

                  walkera make shi te

each have their own make of mixer - try a century 1 or 1 from esky.
                  cheers

Somebody posted about buying the barebones kit for about £40. That would defeat to object of the excercise, I have upgraded everything to get a better Heli.

I can say that with all the upgrades its a totally different Heli and the better for it. Cant wait for my parts to arrive and get it in the air again!

dashik - i have noticed the copper sheath(044) slides up and nearly out of my center holder block(045) on the main shaft. have you noticed this on your heli before you upgraded. my belt is standard at the moment. do you think i should put a spot of epoxy on the copper sheath and push it back down into the center holder block? do you know which parts i mean?
                        thanks matt

i cant find a link for it but if you look in your belt cp manual the copper sheath is 044 and it goes inside the center holder block - 045.

the copper sheath is sliding up out of the center holder block and up the main shaft.

                            thanks matt

Your talking about the bearing in the Washout assembly for the main shaft. No mine does not move and I suspect neither should yours!

Change the washout assy. its not too expensive for the new one. £4.75 EK1-0520 Control Arm Set You might even think about an Alloy upgrade for it. £13.99 EK5-0202 CNC Washout Assembly.

                              Regards

                              James
