Just getting into the hobby and have been looking at buying some tools has any one got any idea the tools I need for a trex 500 and a trex 450

    Hi and welcome,

For my Trex I have: Small scredivers, Hex drivers 1.3 +, Needle nosed pliers, and a soldering iron (gas powered Maplin's). Also because I am getting old and my eyesight is not what it once was!! Various tweezers and a magnifying head band thingy!!!!

    Happy landings

      Hammer, wood saw, axe, mig-welder.

      Joking...
High quality hex keys, not the little L shaped jobbies. MIP Thorp are good, expensive but guaranteed. 1.5mm, 2.00mm, above 2mm the quality becomes less important, it's the little ones that can be a problem.
Decent screw drivers in various sizes - quality jewellers drivers are good.
Soldering iron, 40W min and electrical solder.
Electrical tape, shrink tube, zip ties.
Electronic scales are handy, swash leveller, pitch guage.
      Nut drivers are useful occassionally.
      Medium strength threadlock, non-petroleum grease.
      Lots of KFC wipes.
      Trex 600 ESP (Turnigy T600, DS821, DS620, GP750, 120A) sold
      Trex 450 Pro
      (MD933 DS520, BeastX, 40A HW, 450MX)
      450SEV2
      mCPX
      Recycloquad (tm)
Flying Legends Spitfire (rest in pieces)
      Edge 540 Foamy
      AXN Floater Jet
      MDC F-14 Tomcat
      Depron BAE Hawk

      DX6i, gt power a606, imax b6, A-6-10

Oh yeah - as Sheldrake said, needle nose pliers and tweezers.

Also, you'll need 2 hex drivers of what ever size the feathering shaft bolts are, on a 450 thats 1.5mm

Maplins, modelfixings.co.uk, fast-lad.co.uk are all good. Plenty of others too, shop around but generic items can be cheaper from Maplins.

+1 on Maplins BUT go for the best quality Hex Drivers you can as Paul suggested MIP are good, cheap ones soon round off themselves and the heads!!

I wouldn't go with expensive hex drivers again. Made that mistake already. Buy the Align ones. They're spot on and work just as good if not better than the expensive stuff.

EDS drivers all day long, £27 a set.

Try them, then go back to avert of Align drivers just to see how I'll fitting and sloppy they feel.

Align drivers are no better than Align screws imho they were probably made for each other lol . Ive had a set of Hudys for about 5 years and theyve been well worth what i paid for them which was about £8 each if i remember . Rob
