Hello everyone. Thanks for a great forum
I was bought a Syma S107G for Christmas and I got the heli bug - like you all I guess?
I soon realised I needed a 4 channel heli and got a mini Twister scale co-axial on the advice of my local shop which I absolutely love. I can't believe you can get so much for your £45. Whilst I think it is fairly robust it just feels cheap and plasticky although it looks great in the air and is easyish to fly. I have spent a bit of money on repairs already. I hardly crash it these days but a motor has burnt out now and I am just feeling like I want something more robust and reliable.
I decided I want to get a decent computerised radio and progress through various models (probably all E-flite blades) by getting bind and fly ones and using a simulator to help me learn. I expected to get an mCX2 coaxial and then an mSRX but my local shop said the small fixed pitch single blades are not recommended and I should just go straight to a CP 400 size.
I want to fly in my home though or maybe in the local village hall so I want something smaller. I guess the mCPX V2 fits the bill but I just can't bring myself to press the buy button. I love the idea of it but the stuff I have read leads me to think it's too manic for the house and a beginner like me. Such as they can have your fingers off (I only have 9 left due to my other hobby - motorbikes) and make big holes in the house! But now I am thinking I would prefer to learn properly on a CP heli rather than working through various fixed pitch models.
So, I have ordered a Phoenix simulator and a DX6i transmitter. The question is, do I go for the mCPX2 or work my way through easier models and gradually build up experience? I recently read about dumbing it down using the DX6i and basically making it fly like an FP, do you think it is feasible in your experience?
HELP!
