I appreciate this is possibly a repeated thread but could not find the info i needed. I was wondering if some kind person could point me in the right direction of where to buy batteries for a trex 500, I know they can be ordered from hobby king but dont fancy all the faff with importing and customs. Anyone know of an actual shop in the middlands area (lincolnshire) that doesnt charge a ludicrous amount for batteries. From what I can tell I need 6s 30c 22.2v batteries at around 3000mah

In general ordering from anywhere in the world is just as easy as ordering from FL or Midlands. I have had goods delivered from Hong Kong in 3 days.
I have found as has many on here that the Turnigy packs from Hobby King are very hard to beat and will serve you well until you become a 3D God.
For sellers in this country try Giant Cod or ElectriFly for Gens Ace. These are another lower cost pack that is getting very good reviews. So much so they don't stay in stock for long.
Look at all the different suppliers of packs. Hyperion are very good but don't get mentioned much.

Hi,
not sure why its a faff ordering from HK, as long as you don't get silly and start ordering huge value items then customs don't care, it just appears albeit very much slower like any other parcel. It boils down to how much of a hurry you are in versus the cost. HK batteries are considerably cheaper but take on average 3 weeks to delivery. My TREX 500 runs 5S Zippy flightmax 3000mAH for a 6-7 min flight and I put about 2300 mAh back in.
Ther is obviously Midland Helicopters but It would be a way from lincoln, I'm not local to that area so can't help you on the local model shops but from past experience unless it's a specialist shop you will be lucky to get the lipos that you need.
If however you want to order online but from the UK, Giantcod's range of lipos are very good, also have a look at the optimax range.

I would agree with the above choices,I am using Turnigy from Hobbyking in 6s 3000 form and nanotech 3300 these have been good batteries for me at a great price but limited warranty.Buying from DE warehouse ensures no tax on entering uk but price isnt so attractive as from Hong Kong.
Giant cod do the Gens Ace lipos, these are fairly new to me,warranty is non existent and packs are unproven to me but on the face of it they seem ok.
Optipower is another option albeit more expensive but has a much better warranty than the other two brands and although this pack is my newest least flown it has plenty of potential.
Can't comment on the Century heli but the Rex 500 is a great model.

I have always aimed at 30c ideally, more in theory is better but my nano Turnigys are only 25c and they have done me well.
I am a pretty scruffy 3d flier with odd interlude of actually half decent smooth stuff and I have never found the packs I use to be particularly lacking in power and likewise never come off the model overly warm.Last edited by ChrisB; 15-03-2012, 11:22 PM.

Some of my older Turnigy 5S packs are 20C series and whilst it's true to say they now lack punch at 2-3 seasons old they still fly well, not sure about hard 3d because i'm not yet good enough to attempt it but certainly for fast sport, mild aerobatics they are still ok. I do agree though that modern 30C is probably the way to go.
+1 on the rexy 500 btw, flies well, not too big that it';s gonna break the bank in the inevitable crashes, but big enough that you won't be resticted to flying in millpond conditions only. Spares are plentiful and often if you trawl ebay very cheap. If you want to go clone then the HK500CMT is an excellent choice, flies well out of the box, very cheap, put align bits on as you crash repair.

Im gonna try a couple of the Heliguy ones whilst I am in Newbie Mode Lipo batteries | lithium batteries | lipo battery pack
A question - How do you order from the German Warehouse? I was gonna give it a go the other day, but was not sure where they were going to come from.Blade 130x

If you use the battery search box on the right hand side of the main screen, when the results show up you can select the location from a drop down box. Just pick Europe. Everything from Germany should have DE Warehouse after it, if it doesn't then it's more than likely the Hong Kong office.Originally posted by ShaggyRS6 View PostIm gonna try a couple of the Heliguy ones whilst I am in Newbie Mode Lipo batteries | lithium batteries | lipo battery pack

Hi,
If you are talking about from the DE warehouse (Hobby King), from the product listing choose the item that is appended with (DE Warehouse) and add it to your cart, by default Global is the listing source to show all product sources, DE, USA, AUS and HK. Obviously to comply with duty legislation prices from Germany tend to be more though it's not significantly such and offset by the quicker delivery.Heli's: Align 700X, TSA Infusion 700e Platinum, Align 600e Dominator, Align 600n pro DFC, Align 450 Pro DFC Stretched
