  • Need some advice

    Hi Guys / Girls,

I got my self a Honeybee V2 about 2 weeks ago now.

I have been using the simulator pretty much every day for a couple of hours.

Initially when i first got the Honeybee, i was slightly over confident to say the least and ended up crashing it, surprise, surprise?

It only need a few new parts ( I am not familiar with there names, i just know what they look like, hehe )

So i have been practicing indoors with some training legs and can hover to an extent.

The issue i am currently having though is its constantly trying to go to the left. I have my trim set all the way to the right but even then it needs an almost constant right hand correction.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi,
from past experience the honey bee is not easy to fly.

Check the swash, make sure that when cyclic sticks (right hand stick) is centred then looking at the heli from 2 directions, side and front that the swash is 90 degrees to the main shaft, also take the opportunity to check the paddles to make sure that these are level with the swash. rotate the blades so that you check both paddles. If the swash is off 90 deg to the shaft, pop the ball links off the swash and wind in or out to make this right. recheck and adjust until right.

The honey bee does tend to go left anyway when first lifting off but it's normally catchable fairly easily, don't try to trim this out or the heli will go to the right once airborne.

hope this helps, let us know if not.

      Hi Rich,

I have read about the Swash, but not completely sure what to do with it.

Would you be able to point me to a video that explains how to do it correctly?

Sounds silly, but do i need a special controller to be able to edit it all?

not sure what you meen but on ya right stick theres 2 trims 1 goes up and down the other goes side to side centre them. if ya radio has no computer then theres probly nothing to reset. some radios will plug into pc but dont worry about that for now

                Hi,

                >>trying to go to the left
it's the sidewash of the tail rotor. It blows to the right => the heli wants to go to the left. Known problem, especially on smaller helis.
Don't try to fix it, it ain't broken...

I think I know exactly what you're trying to achieve: You want to hover very low, but keep it in place. For this, you'd need to lean quite a bit to the right. But you don't have the time to get into a stable hover, as it squirrels away towards the west.

Try to find a bigger place with smooth floor (asphalt), where the training gear doesn't get stuck. And don't feel stupid spooling down your heli 1000 times and picking it up to start over. That's the way to learn.

On the bright side: If you can fly a HBK confidently, you could have a go at any of my .90ies and would say "this is too easy"

from my experience the bee does tend to drift even when spooling up when the blades are not in balance or the swash has tipped over ... another cause could be the proportion and gain are no longer correct after you have replaced certain bits that broke ...

yay another esky thread. yep the honey bees and esky helis in general are 5H1T3 . very shaky and balance is all over the place on the majority of them. however if you can fly an esky anything you could more than likley fly a bloody space shuttle.

oh to actually answer your question make sure you have centered all trims EXCEPT throttle or it will result in sore fingers. next look at the heli from the rear and side on and make sure the swash plate is completely flat and level if you know what i mean if it isnt adjust linkages until it is
