  • Head Speeds?

I know there is much debate as to wheather a beginner should be using a governor or not but after much thought and reading whether right or wrong I have gone ahead and bought one.

What I'm unsure of is what sort of head speed is needed for basic flying like circuits, figure 8's etc? and should I be using a lower head speed for take off and hovering (normal mode) then change the flight mode (same pitch curves at the moment) with a slightly higher head speed for the basic flying about?

I have read various post with other peoples head speed setups but almost all are doing more advanced flying so I'm not sure if these setting would suit my level of flying?

I have bought a Curtis Youngblood ATG and am flying a raptor 50 titan with the standard gear ratio 8.5:1, 600mm blades, a OS 50 hyper engine, I also have a align 50 pipe (not yet fitted) and will be using a Spektrum DX7 which seems like it will be easy enough to set up a different head speed for each flight mode.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Stick with one head speed unless you really feel the need to have different speeds.

somewhere around teh 1850 would be a high enough head speed for general sport flying

Don't you find that newbs might find it a bit intimidating having 1850 in the hover????

        Just an observation.

not unless there told differently they dont notice. in return they get a machine which is much more stable and handles the wind changes much better albeit a little more livley.

Thanks for your quick response guys, from what you've said its not miles away from what I was thinking, I had thought around 1700-1800 for starters so mabe I can go a little higher. Your right about the sheer noise of the head speed being intimidating though, the first few were a bit scary, I'd spent hours of phoenix before hand but perhaps I should of had the volume up full blast to get me used to the noise!

As slang, grammatical usage of the word teh is somewhat fluid. Besides being an alternate spelling of the, teh also has grammatical properties not generally applied to the; in general, it is used somewhat like an intensified "the".

so there to all those I offend with my words.
