  • Mini Titan maiden flight

    Hi all

Just wanted to say that today I've maidened my Mini-Titan !!!! And to say a big thanks to everyone here for helping with my newbie questions!

After my midweek cufuffle with having the aileron servos move the swash the wrong way, I'd fixed that and rechecked my pitch curves, eCCPM swash interactions, and cyclic pitch. I woke at 7 this morning and had to wait until the neighbours started mowing their lawn before I thought I could get it up. A few hops later and quite a bit of trim (right and forward) and I got it up in the garden (stop sniggering at the back! ) Checked the tracking and it was quite badly out - 2 cm between the blade tips. I set her down to tweak one of the top links to the blade grips but one turn made the low blade the higher one so it was still out. So I used the next links down (the long ones from the flybar mixer arms down to the swash) to try and correct. I got it closer but still not perfect.

Question. Apart from vibration what are the symptoms associated with poor tracking? I noticed that it seems like the rotor disk (or possibly the heli) is not level even though it is hovering without moving? That seems wrong, as if the rotor disk isn't level the heli should be creeping. Is that a symptom of poor tracking or is it that something else could be wrong?

I've just run two battery packs through with a 5 minute timer to see what was left in them (FP 2500 pack and a Revolution 2100),

It's an amazing feeling, that first flight....

Cheers all, time for a quick celebratory G&T

How are you finding the Spartan Gyro on it.....

I'm assuming that its on your Titan...don't forget your review to be done by the 15th to get a free flash link.

Well it seems to be fine, as a complete beginner I'm not sure I can add much as a reviewer IYSWIM.

      Cheers

Well done, I have been finishing mine off tonight after a little mishap, I know what you mean about the leaning, mine seems to be leaning to the right, but have finally got it to a reasonable stable hover again, so will hopefully try it at the field tomorrow, weather permitting.
I run 5mins on my 2200 packs, and that is it, 80% taken out, so for me that is max flying time, with the cost of batteries, dont want to kill them,

I would approach from that exact perspective, as beginner it would be interesting to hear your views on it. I've listed a few questions that maybe you can use to help.

          1. What's your Tx
          2. Heli (Yes a Mini Titan but is it completely stock or have you upgraded any parts)
          3. Where did you install it
          4. Method of install, are you using the padding provided or different.
          5. Which Servo for tail
          6. How did you find setting it up easy, difficult
          7. Are you using HH or Rate
          8. Have you played with any servo length's at all
          9. what gain level are you working at
          10. How do you find it to be in the hover - rock solid or any slight wagging
          11. If your doing small circuits then how is the tail performing in terms of doing what you expect it to do.

Even though the Spartan is at the same level as a GY611, as a beginner the gyro will last you a long time in your flying career. I'm a sure other beginners would be keen to get your opinion on it.

Remember be honest, if your over the moon then great if your struggling with it equally let us know.
          Cheers

Just finished charging my 2 packs and managed to get in 1350 mAh in both so there is more flight time for me - probably up it to 6 mins on the Rev (2100) and 7 mins on the FP (2500).

Good for you, when I need a new battery, I will try the revolution packs, they get some good reports on here. good luck in your learning process

Do you mean it leans slightly to the right ? if so then this is normal as all heli's lean towards the direction the rotors turn.

Yes it is doing just that, but it seems alot. Maybe it's exagerated by the training gear I've built.

                    Thanks
