  • Maiden Flight

Got a big smile on my face, just hovered my new TREX 250 in the garden for a couple of batteries. Everything I learnt with my MCPX seems to have transferred across to my thumbs on a bigger heli, pretty sure my flight wouldn't have been quite so uneventful if it hadn't been for the MCPX.

Doubly pleased as I bought the 250 second hand as a spare or repair, rebuilt the tail and tweaked the set up with help from Finless Bob and his videos and brought the little bird back to life. Some tweaking and much more learning to do, BUT IT FLIES................

Just done about 6 to 8 flights without mishap and then noticed it starting to sound a little odd. Landed a took a look and the plastic main gear is being chewed up, it now only connecting with the motor for about 2/3 of its circumference.

Any thoughts as to what the cause might be, I got no head wobble/vibration so I'm thinking the main shaft is still straight, If a couple of teeth had been chewed during the crash that initially broke the tail would that spread around the rest of the main gear with use?

You must have a big garden to fly a 700, after my MCPX the 250 makes my garden feel rather small

Congrats with the maiden flight. I've been giving the trex 250 some thought, are they as fidley to work on as they sound?

Tough for me to make a comparison as before this I've only ever worked on an MSR and MCPX, both much smaller. I've just stripped down the head and rebuilt it without to much trouble so I would say don't let it put you off unless you have particularly fat fingers or poor eyesight. I'm hoping it will make a nice heli for the back garden and maybe some gym flying in the winter.
