  • Beginners first IU mode Flight! EPIC!

Hello all, i'm new to all this forum malarky aswell as helis!

It all started with a little airhog christmas time, then went on first week in Jan to a Blade120sr!
Utterly HOOKED! Very good heli, and I was quite scared by it's size in my living room, but got it down by the end of January!
I then bought a B4503d first week in Feb, it scared the hell outta me, I just looked at it for a week.......
Built up the gonads to hover it with no training gear and and just staying in normal mode, had a couple of tips on landing, nothing major (bent flybar, bent it back etc), great I thought, I'm loving this!!!

I was still just pottering about with it, not having any confidence to try any ff and totally Sh!t scared of idle up stunt mode!
So I bought Pheonix 20th Feb, and I gotta say after a bit of fiddling to get all the switches working-ACE!

I had my first IU flight today with the B450, my rpm's were set to 80% and man as soon as I flicked the IU it just welded itself into the air, as it was moving and drifting in about 4-5mph breeze..
I now understand exactly what people are going on about with headspeed and stability, it just became so controllable.
I didn't do much FF, but was bashing the pitch up and down and marvelling at how you can go up and power down too!, I was starting to feel confident and could feel a reverse flip coming on, like in the sim, but held off for next time!, that can be my next car park screaming session! )

I had the biggest grin across my chops, and i'm sure it looked like I had tourettes but I didn't care! made me feel like I was 10 again! 38 now!
I'm hook line and sinkered now, got all cf blades and balancer, pitch gauge and spares and I just love reading this forum and all the deep techie knowse all you guy's have, any tips suggestions would be most appreciated, great stuff!

Thank's for reading, just had to get it off my chest!

Sorry if I started to ramble there, but i'm still hearing the blades frapping making me grin!!!

Nice one, good write up. I very recently gave idle up a go for the first time and like you it put a big grin on my face.

Idle Up ? Better than crystal meths anyday, AND a natural laxative also. Great innit. Well gone fella.

Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.
