  • Looking to upgrade to my first collective pitch!

Looking to upgrade from my coaxial twister seaking!

Looking at either the twister cpx or the esky honeybee cpx, Anyone have any advice on either of these helis and which one to go for?

I would suggest, as I bet others will also, to have a look at the Blade MSRx or the Blade MCPx. The MSRx is a fixed pitch, single rotor, flybarless heli. And the MCPx is a flybarless CP heli. I started with an MSRx and am looking at going to CP soon. The MCPx was going to be my next heli but now Horizon have announced the Blade 350x, I think I may get one of those!!! Have a snoop around the forum

        Hi

The MCPx is a good micro size cp Heli. Very well liked.

What size are you after? And what sort of budget do you have?

my Twister 3D storm in the for sale section (shameless plug)

Seriously though, its not a bad first CP heli, it is 99% the same as the Blade 400 so spares are cheap and easy to get

it is bigger than a MCPX so can stand a bit more wind if flown outside, but is still small enough to be flown inside in a hall or something

it flies better than anything by Esky thats for sure

The Blade 120 SR (sub micro)or mSR X (sub micro) would be ideal as I think you'll find they are quite a bit harder to fly than a coaxial.

If you really want a Collective Pitch helicopter than the Blade SR (micro size), Blade mCPX (sub micro) or Blade 450 (450 size, largest in this post) would be great choices.

mpcx v2 all the way .... its a cracking little piece of kit and in super calm conditions (for a beginner on it anyway) flies great over thick grass and can take a dive like a champ and keep going

I'd support the MCPx, its my first CP heli (step up from MSR) and I'm a having a ball with it. I can fly indoors and out, it bounces off things and on the odd occasion I break something its peanuts to fix. Throw in lots of support and knowledge on the MCPX on here as well as cheap batteries and you can't go wrong.

Just make sure you budget for a decent computerised radio like a DX6i, flying without one as a newbie would be difficult, the radio lets you essentially set the response of sensitivity of the sticks which is something you really need when you fingers and thumbs have no idea what they are doing.

I'm after something that can mainly be used outdoor! Are both the heli's I suggested pretty much out of the question? The two blade heli's seem to be almost micro mainly for indoor use?

The Blade 450 will be best in the wind but the mCPX flys extremely well in the wind for it's size, much better than fixed pitch for outdoor conditions as it's normally windy here .

The blade SR is a collective pitch heli, just so the OP doesn't get confused

Whoops, thank you that's what you get when you don't proof read your posts . I've edited it to make it a little clearer too.

I have Phoenix sim to practise with but by the response I'm gettin it's best to start on a micro cp heli rather than something bigger?

I was set on a twister cpx because they offered me exchange on my twister coaxial as its the place I bought it from!

i wouldent bother with a micro heli for outdoors, better off just getting a 450 size i think.
