  • Bit of buying advice...

OK, so this is a long way off yet, but assuming that I get better at flying my msr-x and improve on the sim I obviously want to get an outdoor bird at some point in the future.

I've been reading all the threads about which is the best beginner heli, and in my situation I think it's a 500 electric.
I want to get the Gootch clone as everything appeals to me, UK supplier, rave reviews etc and I'd rather get a clone as the cost isn't horrendous if I do end up having a terminal crash.

So, this is what I'm interested in, are the components that are supplied with it up to the task or am I better off buying the basic kit (airframe?) only and just sourcing the electronics separately?

Combo Kit 1 Gootch T-Rex 500 CF Free Delivery (UK Only)
    Eh?

Forgot to add (and can't edit without the test appearing as a link?) I'd rather get a new kit and build it myself, rather than get a 2nd hand Trex, so that I can see how it all goes together
    Eh?

That really isn't cheap for the spec you get.

You are best off getting a second hand 500EFL or ESP, even 3G if wanting to go flybarless.

Something else to consider is the re-sell value. You won't get anywhere near 50% back if/when you come to sell it.

EDIT: just seen your second post. Look at getting one from Hong Kong. Century-RC or Helipross

Thanks for that, is it better to buy the basic kit Gootch 500 Kit. Now with Free UK Express Delivery and buy electrics separately? or is the basic kit overpriced?

2nd hand prices seem to be quite high for the Align kit, and the problem is I never know if the kit they come with is any good.
I'm thinking of a long term project I can slowly put together whilst I get my sim time in and practise on the msr-x

EDIT: Must admit I'm not too bothered about resale value. If it's any good, then I'll be keeping it and if it's not that great I'm happy to sell it on at a big loss, learn from the mistake and then buy something better when I can fly something that big
        Eh?

Personally, I think it is all over priced. So couldn't help you with that.

There was a 500 with a mini vbar for £300 on BMFA a couple of days ago. Considering the Vbars secondhand value is £150ish, they really aren't that expensive.

It's good they hold their value; look on eBay at clone prices

Don't really have one yet, I suppose up to about £300.00 or so, maybe a bit more if needed. As I say though, this is all some way off yet

Ouch that is well expensive for that, you could do much better for yourself really with a proper Align kit, even brand new posted from overseas.

But always find deals on used ones.

Awesome, thanks for that, about the same price as the clone!
Just need to save some pennies and learn to fly now!
