  • First Ever Helicopter Flight - T-Rex 500

So today was the day. Lovely conditions, really light win, bit cold though. I have to thank GIXERMAN for coming over. He gave us some really good pointers. Flying for the first time is so much different to the Sim, you have to put the power in a lot more slowly and you obviously are very aware that a crash means £££££'s

What we ended up doing in the second flight was to hover a bit higher and actually started to spot stones where we wanted to move the heli too, spotting those stones helped a lot, gives you something to aim for.

The Sim obviously helped, GIXERMAN pointed out that most people, on their first flight, without the sim would not be hovering it like we did, so I can say it does help, it is also so much different as well.

We left whilst we were ahead today. i did not want us to get cocky, i wanted us to leave with the knowledge that we had not crashed it, so we can go back tomorrow with some confidence. All in all a really great morning. I think we have the bug now.

You're on the road to success now Shaggy, well done son. As you say, it is different from the sim but just close enough to have your brain ready to anticipate which way the bugger's going when you twiddle. Onwards and upwards fella.

Yeah, it was a bit like that. That was actually the boy flying, but our attempts were similar, we got more confidence as we went on. I was amazed at the kiddo, especially that vid as it really was the fist 30s of him flying one for real. Cant wait to go out again

Congrats.... certainly looked like a great first flight! I think in the future your video will serve as a good example of the benefits of your first 'heli' being a virtual one!
If you can keep your head, when all others around are losing theirs - you have probably not understood the seriousness of the situation!!
