  • Phoenix RC Flight Sim but with what Transmitter

Now i think its time i listen to what most people have been saying and invest in a Sim but what TX. Ive seen the Sim with a DX5 as a package but not a DX6i

Is it worth the getting it with the DX5 or buy both the sim and DX6i on there own

Second hand DX7 would be my choice.

I bought a dx6i to use with my cp pro 2 then found out it conveniently plugs in to the Phoenix dongle, happy days

I'm a new boy so couldn't possibly comment on the dx7 as I know nothing about them, I bought a dx6i due to a recommendation from a guy at work, it does everything I'm likely to need and probably a hundred things I won't

The dx5e has no programability, the dx6i & dx7 does - if you intend to stick with electric the dx6i will last you a while, if you intend to go nitro at some stage the dx7 is the best choice.

It really depends on your budget tbh. The DX7 has better build quality, one extra channel (useful for running a gov on nitro) and also has 2 idle up positions (DX6i has 1).

The DX6i is a very capable radio though but it is suceptable to trim tabs breaking (I have got through a complete set on mine but HH will supply new ones foc) it is also very easy to program and the menus are well laid out.

The DX7 does not have such a nice programing interface (I really dont like it tbh) but it is much more solid and a bit smaller in the hands than the DX6i. It has been used by many top pilots and will take you as far as you need to go in the hobby but its design is getting a bit dated imo.

If you are not looking to switch to a newer, fancy radio in the future then I would go with the DX7. If you are just looking for a cheap, short term stop gap then a second hand (approx £50-60) DX6i might be a good choice.

I have been running a DX6i for about 2 years now and it has been pretty good although I am looking at switching to a shiney new radio soonish. The radio link has always been solid but as I have mentioned the trim tabs are a bit weak and there are a few bugs in the software which pop there head up occasionally.
