  • another good day inverted hover :)

had 20 mins of spare time and it wasnt to windy but bloody cold so i thought i would take the mcpx out the front have have a few batts through her

1st batt just flyinging around an warm my self up a bit

2nd batt thought sod this and flipped her over and held a sort of hover for about 3-4 secs even though it seemed for ever and flipped it back over just what a result but i noticed it didnt have enough umph to flip back it seems like it had naff all negative pitch

checked it over everthing ok checked radio and nothing altered there so i think i need to find out why it hasnt got a lot of negative pitch also the tail will not hold now bung it up into idle up or idle up 2 and hit the collective hard it just spins do it nice and slow and its fine so another problem to sort

tryed again to go inverted and there was naff all bottm stick and it just hit the deck after a sec or so of cutting the grass didnt atter what i did it would not lift inverted normal flying around seems ok it will lift soon as it gets inverted thats it bang hits the deck

just broken the landing skid so ill pick one of them up some time this week for now it will be fixed with what ever i can find

    not bad 20 mins lol

Wow! That's a bit of a good news/bad news thing. I broke my skid but managed to fix it with some Araldite putty.

Here's hoping you crack the problem and get some great inverteds in

Congrats dude. Tried to flip mine, just piro'd out the sky. I think the trick is to 'feed' the cyclic so there is still power for the tail to hold.

you have to reduce the collective. I set mine up "properly" the other day and its transformed it.

My settings under "travel adjust" are:

          Thro 100% both ways
          Aile 125% both ways
          Elev 125% both ways
          Rudd 125% both ways
          Gyro 100% both ways
          Pitch 75% downward, 64% upwards

Anything higher than that will cause horrible tail blowout, and motor bogging so much that the head speed will slow and itll fall out of the sky.

follow this video to set 0 pitch at mid stick Mcpx 0 pitch setup - YouTube

Set pitch to 60% in both directions and go out and fly again youll be fine. Tail shouldnt blowout as much but you may still get a little depending on what your doing, try to avoid moving stick too agressively, change pitch smoothly.

It wont be that punchy in an up/down motion but you dont want that...just be smooth on the collective. The MCPX isnt a heli for bouncing around the sky and flying agressively in its standard form, its for smooth flips and rolls, it doesn thave the power for anything else!

Yeah, I bought the MCPX thinking it would be great to practise 3D stunts on, and the tail doesn't seem to be able to hold any 3D manoeuvre I throw at it, should have looked into it a bit more first I think.

I suppose it's just PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

Glad you found the problems. Delarado has some nice advice there. This place is great, so much experience on offer. Love it to bits.

might have a few spare hours tommorrow so might go pick up a bit of carbon pole and re make the tail and get a new skid and try these new settings

                thanks all

Great info, but when you say 'the above quote', is that in the travel adjust ??

I have a dx6i, and it only allows me to set a downwards percentage ??

                  Cheers

Move the stick to the up position - the arrow will change and you'll get a different number. Same for rudder and all cyclic travel adjustments, took me about two weeks to realise that when I was setting pitch to 50% and still getting bogging it was coz I hadn't moved the stick up and was only adjusting the negative pitch!!

So you'll need to set the others to 125% twice - once for each direction.

Ooh thanx for that! But sorry don't get it. Before video you said to set pitch at 75% and 64%, but after you say both at 60%? And gyro atv?? I have gear no gyro in 'server set-up' menu, gyro is inhibited, but if I set un-inhibit gyro then there is a rate at 0.0%. Do I leave this as is on my dx8?

Not sure on the dx8 I use dx6.

                          Those were y settings 70 and 64%

You need to make sure your at 0 pitch mid stick. Then the 60% in both directions was a baseline. If it bogs then decrease pitch, if it don't then increase it! My numbers are the max I can go but it does vary slightly on wind, battery condition, temperature etc. set it to something sensible and adjust your thumb rather than the tx if it bogs just be smooth is the best advice!

It has no power so if you go max pitch full cyclic to max neg pitch full cyclic it'll always struggle horribly... I doubt I ever really use more than 25% stick travel when flipping... Forward flight is another matter (for speed) but this help doesn't have the power to use the pitch to change direction really...
