  • Blizzard's turn!

A lovely, practically wind free day today so I took Blizzard into the garden. Two batteries worth of hovering was netted by me

Blizzard has a bit of a wobble and you can hear the tail rotor hunting but I'm not overly concerned about that. He's quite controllable. He's not a swift one. When he wants to get away from you he kind of does it at a stroll. Larry goes like a whippet that's been shown a burger a hundred yards away!

Just recharging the batteries and, assuming the wind doesn't come up, I'll be back out there with the helmet cam on

Bah, wind and rain here today and tomorrow. Drops in middle of the week though. I bet you find the 120 a piece of cake after flying the MCPX. I tried my FP this morning for the first time since MCPX arrived and it was so easy to fly, like night and day!

A day of Phoenix so far, trying to learn to fly backwards. It's really hurting my head. Thank goodness I have the sim is all I can say!

Ah, I'm assuming you don't know I name inanimate objects.

Blizzard is a Blade 120 SR.

Lil' Larry is an mCP X.

Sorry to hear that, Anti. Sims are great for bad weather, though, aren't they.

We have about a 4mph wind today and Blizzard is a bit twitchy out there. Larry tends not to care less about slightly higher wind speed. I guess Blizzard has more surface area for the wind to push against. He's also set on the inner balls still. Looking forward to getting him into a bigger area so I can fly him around a bit.

Looking forward to same with Larry, of course

I'm starting to get annoyed with my MCPX, every time I try to flip it, or fly inverted, the tail just blows out, and it crashes, i've had about 15 crashes in two days because of this, no damage though ... yet.

I think i may need to do the Extended boom mod

Only ever tried that on the sim, Sam. Not ready for it in real life yet. I would want to be over nice fluffy grass

SamS, check the Smacktalk RC episode on the MCPX. Bert Kammerer talks through setting up stock MCPX so tail wont blow. He has the collective set so that it actually climbs very slowly with very little punch and does all sorts of 3D trickery with the stock MCPX once he's set it up.

Here's the video. Stick with it to the end

Sorry about the quality, my bullet cam isn't a good one. Oh, and sorry for the odd sharp head movement here and there (camera was on my head).

Was hovering and trying some gentle movements, not so gentle at the end

                    Blizzard was unhurt

LOL! I swear those telephone lines just leapt into my helis path with wild abandon. They're far from tame round here.

Weird thing is, I have no idea what happened. I was on the cusp of recovery when.... Blast those feral phone lines!
