  • Blade 120 sr Advise needed

    Evening all

Was lucky enough to have my birthday present early ( Well the money anyway) And picked my self up a Blade 120 sr

Now i need as much info and set up tips so i dont crash it millions of times

Any tips or advise on what to do.

Its got the standard Tx but i have read you can dumb it down. I know its a jump for a 4 blade 3 channel but i really wanna get it to it as i enjoyed it

Will look at getting a dx6i if i get the hang of it

Its coming with some overlander lipos but im looking for some more can anyone point me in some that are good. I know nothing about lipos lol

If you want quality at a reasonable price go for Hyperion, Intilect or Turnigy nanotec.

Found a problem with the Overlander batteries I got for my 120 SR - they don't fit! They are just a teensy bit too big. I did manage to get it in but I broke the battery holder so it swings free on canopy support bar. Managed to stop it swinging with the use of an elastic band. I think I'll cut the support bar of the battery holder to allow it to expand easily to take the battery. Be careful, Mclovin, they are a tight fit.

As to the controller that comes with it, if you push the right stick in so it clicks you'll see the led on the front flash (if previously steady) indicating you are in low rate mode. Press again and the led will light steady indicating normal mode.

I think the rates are programmed into the 120 SR so on a DX6i the GYRO switch is used on channel 5 to tell the heli what mode it should be in. You may need to check but I have switch OFF set at 100% meaning Normal Rate and ON set to 0% for low rate (I may have that backwards).

It's big to fly indoors if you've not hovered a heli like this before. I've had a lot of sim time and spent time hovering my mCP X indoors and today was the first day I successfully hovered the 120 SR (called Blizzard) indoors. It's still scary because indoors this critter seems larger than it is.

      Hope that helps some.
