  • Tiny steps ... big smiles

Got an mcpx couple of weeks ago and took it out a couple of times on extremely still days and my best hover attempt was mostly wildly flailing around a field with the heli more in control than me...

Hit the sim for a few session until i could hover within a reasonable space (including a very gentle wind in the sim) for 4 or 5 minutes at a time

Found a great local club and went to their weekly indoor flyin and let them give it the once over to make sure it flew well and was safe (good standard set by the club which i like) and finally had a go myself ... 1st battery was still fairly wild but was keeping it low and managed to settle a bit ...

Chap observing simply said go higher (which i'd read plenty but just never did) ... well what a difference a metre off the deck makes .... heli becomes much more stable and predictable

By the end of the evening i went through 3 batteries in quick succession and was keeping it under control with just a couple of touch-downs ....

Ridiculously basic and 1st step achivement i know but was really pleased .... i know i still have much more practice to do so i can keep it hovering in a smaller space so not going to try doing much more next time but at least i felt a glimmer of control over the heli.

    THanks all

Well done. Keep up the practise and in no time you will be hovering in all orientations

Well done indeed, been through that stage recently myself.

Keep at it because it seems to just click into place. The sim is a great help, too.

Thanks ... been reading your threads with interest about Fastarse and Larry

I'm going to re-do my Tx setup as i made it a bit too docile on the pitch side

            Thanks

Lil' Larry used to be called Fastarse but it seemed to be a bit mean. He's "happy as Larry" hence Larry he is, oh, and he's little

The 120 SR is called Blizzard. Don't ask me why because I don't know but he started out being called Blizzard the lizard which got shortened to just Blizzard.

Funnily enough, I've flown Larry more than Blizzard. He's a little too big for indoors but not as strong as Larry for outdoors in a breeze. Looking forward to blasting Blizzard round the skies on a calm day.

When I get my T-rex 450 Sport in a few months time I have no idea what I'm going to call him - Choposaurus maybe.

Really looking forward to seeing how you progress
