  • Raptor 30 v2 help

Hi all, I have recently purchased a Raptor 30 v2 kit. I have almost completed it and its looking good so far. I need help! what servos gyro and radio do you recomend as I dont want to break the bank whilst still having good quality parts that wont go tits up on me! I also need advice on setting the trim up and all other tunning up advice for the raptor 30 v2 as there is no one in my area to help do it for me. There is however a model shop near me, not sure if they tune helis but if they do would it be costing me a small fortune. I am currently going to learn first on a sim called Pheniox or something its very good so which radio can i use to plug it into.

    Feedback would be great!

    Cheers
    Fraz

Gyro - the only (IMHO) way to go is Futaba 401/9254, £125 from PihilipHenderson on this site. Fit, forgrt, fly

Servos - no expert I'm afraid, but if you have those from the radio kit I'm sure they'll do you if you are only learning. But def the 401/9254 on the tail.

    Hope the above link helps

        3001's
cheep and qiuck ish for all but the tail go with the 401+9254 its a good choice you can always replace the 3001's with better ones when funds allow...

My shuttle works with 3001's and an s148 on the throttle and its ok to learn on but i wouldnt trust it with a stick basher...

So the Futaba GY401 Gyro is good any recomendations on were to buy these online.. Also what servos are compatable with the heli and also where to get them from.. Is it cheaper to get them as a set or buy individually.

the spartan rc ds760 gyro is worth considering, easier to set up, a will last all the abuse you can throw at it

+for the 401/9254 PM philiphenderson in the members list on this site. Lat time I bought £125 the set - excellent value.

              I've had 2 sets off him & he's quick & reliable.

3001 from Midland Helicopters, Revolution Models, Skyline Models, all on the internet. Ususally cheap enough to buy singly.

              Browse their websites.

Thanks for all your input. I think I will get the Gyro 401 with tail servo and the P-S3001 : Futaba 3001 Servo. Is this a cool set up for a raptor. Also what are JR radios like with raptor setups? Ive seen some as little as £89 is that too cheap?

The JR 2610 (£89 is TX only so you would need Rx battery, Rx, and servos) will get you flying, is a nice entry level radio, but a bit limited on channels (6) and you will have to replace it eventualy ( but I still don't need to change mine yet and I've been flying for a while) Look at a DX7 if you can stretch too it, 401 gyro / 9254 tail servo, 3 of futaba 3152 servos ( they are worth the extra ), and a 3001 on the throttle. I
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

                  And a DX8 too

                    Jamez is prob right.

The 2.4 ghz stuff is probably the way to go on transmitters & radio equipment as there are no channel allocation or interference worries.

I bought my Futaba FF7 radio system JUST before the introduction of 2.4 ghz - wish I had waited. Just can't be bothered to re-set all my helis and plank so haven't (as yet) succumbed to a DX7

His advice on servos is good too if the extra dosh is not a problem.

The really best advice is, buy the best you can afford to save replacing later, spend the money on the tail - it really helps to have a good gyro & fast servo

How does that work then Phil?

Surely all the parameters set in a 35 Mhz has to be input into the new Tx?

Not if you get a module for your current set

Not sure if yours takes a module or not...
