Put Larry's new blade on this morning and took him for a test flight in the bathroom and rapidly gave up.
Looked out back this afternoon and thought, hmmmm, seems calm. Took Larry (a feisty mCPx) out into the garden and took off. Oh my! I was managing to hover him in a three foot cube about five feet in front of me. I landed him and had another go and was improved by keeping a more consistent height. This time I was holding a good and solid hover. Then a gust of wind hit but I managed to pull him back to front and centre after he tried a two foot scurry away. I landed him again and tried again and I was almost squealing with delight.
The wind was actually 10mph and I held him! I did far better than I did in the field but I've put in lots of sim hours since then. I didn't realise my hubby was behind me and when I landed Larry I nearly jumped out my skin when this voice behind me said "That was good."
Sim time seems to work at a subliminal level. You seem to get better without realising it. As each flight was done I was feeling more relaxed and holding a better hover as a consequence. Each time I've made a big step between flights there's been several sim hours inbetween.
I am so happy at the moment as I was starting to feel a bit dispondant. Mind you, part of that could be to do with the thyroid problem I have that's currently being diagnosed (so tired all the time). This was just the boost I needed.
Sorry to babble on.
