safe lipo discharge???

sorry if this question has been asked a million times,but im a nooooob
so what is the safe discharge for a 3 cell 11.1v 1500mah lipo??do i go by dropped voltage or mah??or both?a engineer friend reckons that the lipo would probably keep its voltage and to check the amp.

75-80% capacity is max really. So 1200mAh should be put back in when you charge it
