  • new hellicopter nine eagles solo pro first flight impressions

i have had many 3 ch helicopters but had to try this mode 2 stuff, so i got a nine eagles solo pro. lots of people saying its very easy and stable.

my first flight impressions follow. i would be greatful of anyone who may tell me what is normal as i have not flown anything like this before.

i was able to hover it straight away for a few seconds at a time. it ocasionally strays and i have to land put it back in the middle of the room.

the yaw trim seems not very effective i am dissapointed with this as the 3 ch helis with a gyro are solid in yaw no matter what else you are doing

in hover you can trim the yaw but ad more power and it starts to spin very slowly as you climb if you are aggressive it will spin faster at take off you always end up facting 90 degrees left. i find a contstant left stick adjuctment to the right is needed when climbing or descending to keep a heading. this is very hard.

initiate yaw inputs and the helicopter wont turn flat but will begin to move in other directions mainly down and rear.
this is very strange as the cyclic trims seem solid.

in hover the heli hangs at a funny angle ( i have seen this in others online)

i guess its not what i expected which is what i expected but i didnt expect it to not be what i expected this way. that said i have flown two batteries worth so too early to tell.

if you have any pointers i would be greatful

ok just finished my 6th battery worth of flying and things are much smoother. i can hover a full batery without crashing or straying, i notice its very lively with a new battery and when the batery is low it yaws off.

i am much more used to the yaw contol now and controling it fine in hover. feeling more natural i still have the odd panic monent but on the whole its good. i am doing the box pattern ok until the battery starts to drop then everything is hard.

yawing 90 degrees or 180 degrees though is very hard there are two aceptable speeds to do this very very slow. or full stick. anything in between and the heli slides off drops and goes rearward a good 3-4 feet. and this is with nil input on any other sticks.
i guess i have been spoiled with the syma 107g which is amazing in this area, it turns on the dot without loosing height.

after these few flights i am feeling very good about it. even hovering in a very small living room. i'm off to a large hall tomorrow to try flying small circuits

sorry about this waffling of a very insignificant little electric helicopter which must seem laughable to most people here. but one i am enjoying the learning from 3ch my left thumb is learning new stuff lol. and secondly i am hoping at some point someone will tell me this is a normal pattern for someone learning 4 ch.

as when you first fly it you think you have baught the only broken one lol.

Good luck with it Bob, most of us started the same way. Before you know it you'll have it licked

flown two more batteries thats 8 now. i hope this at leased helps those thinking of buying this helicopter.

this flight feels much beter starting to react without thinking now, also began flying the box pattern sideways after which flying from the tail seems a dodle.

still very disapointed with the yaw of this helicopter, when rotating in either direction the helicopter does not stay put insted it drifts around in a 3-4 ft circle nose inward. it is as if i am using roll input at the same time. i start in a stable hover (needed trimmers to get this) operate yaw and off it goes at speed, which in a small room is not great.

secondly the canopy is very flimsy and will crack on any impact. the frame is also very thin bust seems flexible as nothing broken and i have hit a few things.

re the yawing issue this is not my video but it looks like the same behaviour not to say this guy may not have the same issue and may be doing this through yaw and roll but it looks the same around 20 sec in

The previous heli you had was a coaxial I believe, easy but boring to fly. The yawing issue is normal, my Solo pro does it too.. you jsut need to get used to it and compensate.. all part of the fun.. the pro is quite a quick little heli, especially if you use the quick flight mode(full dot on transmitter). Good luck with it, I had loads of fun with mine and still fly it around, tough little heli.. never broken anyhting and like you I learned on mine!

thank you jackpie, yes the coaxial is boring. i am getting used to it and in the big hall it was not an issue only in the living room. i have now tried it on full and it whizzes round the hall, not so fast in a straight line unless you use the trimmer too. i guess mine needed quite a bit of trim rearward to get a stable hover. i have cracked the canopy but its superficial.

              i am thouroughly enjoying it
