    Hi a newbie here
Hi first post and very new to the scene of helicopters i did use to race remote controlled cars electric then nitro so i have abit of knowlege of nitros and pacience i did race nationals but got feed up of the dieing raceing, unfortunatly gave that up a few years ago my dad got brought a nitro helicopter 18 years ago but derdent fly it and iv allways been intrested in it but never got chance to see any fly, i got offerd a thunder tiger raptor v2 with lots of upgrades ready to fly with sim but didnt know if this is too much too soon or get somthing else and giive this a miss?iv tried to get hold of a club near me (newport- south wales) but with no joy so i could go and watch and see some heli`s in action and talk to a few people, is there anyone from around me on here that i could speak to or watch fly there heli?

    sorry for that long read

most clubs have raptors so you shud get help no problem, its a good starter if you could afford a 50 that may be better as im wanting to upgrade now, larger helis are more stable so you shud be fine to learn with it if you have a club to join

u will be ok learning on the raptor. but i would really advise finding an experianced heli person to help u out!. or just ask loads and loads of questions on here! lol

and before you fly it u must of had lots of practise on the sim and be able to do a confident hover before u even think about taking it in the air. learning with a big nitro makes your first few crash's a little more expensive but u will progress so much quicker than if u were learning on small electrics.

      cheers,
      Tom

The raptor is the ideal thing to learn on, but you must find a club field to fly it on. Its quite big and noisy - you can't fly it in a park!
check the club finder on www.bmfa.org.uk
www.heli-extreme.co.uk a good club in south Sheffield

more important than the airframe is the electronics thats with it. do you know what servos, gyro, rx and transmitter its coming with? Also which engine.

          unless its a hawk...

all i know its futarba transmitter and servos unsure wich model, its a raptor 30 v2 does that mean its smaller than the raptor 50? engine is a thunder tiger 30 unsure wich model tho, carbon blades and fins with under carage, new starter and glow unit
whats the diffrence between the 30 and 50?
            and the titan?

the 50 has a 50 engine, larger and a few other bits, the 30 is to take a 30 engine bit smaller the frames the same size but the 50 has a longer boom and the titan a longer boom again so longer blades can be used due to the larger engine.
id say youd be better finding out more about the tx,gyro sim etc if youre thinking of buying it the electrics are a big part of it and to gauge the price your paying unless ya not paying for it?
