Phoenix is Sooooooo not expensive - £80 is the best money you will spend in this hobby!

I definitely agree with lessons, but I would recommend AFTER you have put a few hours on the sim.

I spent a couple of hours on Phoenix before flying for real and was flying on a buddy lead with all controls no probs. After that I was on my own

Since then, like most people on here (with any sense) I use Phoenix to learn all my new manouvres before flying them for real.

£80.00 isn't a great deal when consider the savings you'll make in repair costs at the end of the day.

As said already,Get the sim and learn to fly on that then go for some lessons after you have learnt the basics cos this will save you time and money.
I did exactly that and am now doing fast 8's,Hovering nose in(up high tho) and now starting to do some nice fast banked turns and all in a few months.
Oh and the lessons were with Raptorite (Pete) on here.

Radds is a good Discipline to learn and it helped me to hover BUT

Buy the sim (you will save the money in one crash) then get some lessons (again you will save it in bits)

If the sim is too much and you dont want to pay for lessons then maybe you shouldnt follow this hobby.

Its very hard to learn and I have seen people keep buying cheap small helis to try and learn (me included) which only makes it harder.

After 3 expensive crash / rebuilds many give up.

You ould be better off taking lessons and using a sim and buy the heli when you need to practice after you have learned to fly.

Sorry but i am learning and I have wasted time and money trying to learn myself.
The older I get, the faster I was!

Spot on. £80 is a cheap crash for me

As per others, time on the sim and then lessons has gotta be the best way forward.

Radds is systematic and will get you hovering, although I found a less strict regime still works well along Radds guidlines (Radds whole methodology revolves around strong self-discipline--- and self flagellation with twigs whilst sitting on spikes....). Oh and radds doesn't advocate training gear either, due to learning in small manageable steps, but thats a bit utopian and in real life training gear will save you cash in the early stages IMO..........
