Well after having a play with my kids 3ch heli over Xmas period and realising that I should finally dip my toe into the world of RC Helicopters.


Now the impulsive side of me was saying just get out there and do it. But after reading up on this forum and speaking to Mayoor who owns monarch models in Harrow I decided the more sensible route would be Phoenix and DX6i. So collected all the kit today and set it up and have been playing around on it for the past few hours and I'm totally hooked!

I'm going to wait a few weeks (probably this weekend in truth) and purchase a heli but I'm in the same position as so many beginners in that I'm not sure of what Helicopter to get! I would like something that I can fly outside but also something to practise with indoors when I'm not on the sim.

I'm going to get about 2hrs a day on the sim but need a real helicopter but not sure if Yu can go too big for a beginner.

Any advice will be most welcome.........great forum

Buy something fairly cheap and easy to get parts for as your first model. Last thing you would want is to crash an expensive one. If you want indoor and outdoor fun, a blade msr will be great and is pretty much indestructible. You can bind it to your dx6i too

Dont rush into purchasing a heli, youve got the sim & the weather is crap so keep plugging away indoors for now. Choosing a heli (especially your first one) is a big decision, I'd say go to a few clubs, talk to people who actually fly various models and have a look at them in the flesh, dont simply rely on the word of retailers or some of the rather dubious advice offered on forums

Blade msrx, flies great indoors and ok outdoors if its not to windy - oh and welcome to the addicts!!!

welcome to the forum bud you was given sound advise with the dx6 and the sim its the way to go i think i would wait like gate88 said look around and pop to clubs to see what would be best for you

Welcome This is a great forum, everyone is very helpful & give very good advice. Blade MSRx/MCPx when confident imo, then next month go for it, I like the LOGO 600 very stable. You may want deep pockets & short arms.

this hobby is very dependent on how deep your pocket is....but dont be put off it dose not have to be expensive big 600 and 700 are going to hurt you for sure while a cheeper 450 is a good starting point for 20 quide crashes with cheep blades on it

are the indistrutable msr great 4 channel indoor flyer i love this heli

allso you may want to start off cheeper and get a 4 channel heli 5 quid per a crash to teach you the basics

what ever you choise make sure you take in the fact that you are going to need spairs resurch well and let us no what you decided

Thanks all as always very sound advice I was thinking the MSR as the reviews for it are all very positive.

Mayoor at Monarch is a very sound guy offered to help in anyway he could. Very keen flyer been at 34yrs and spends most of his time at Northwick Park when the weathers ok.

The Sim is very addictive and I think my wife will wonder who I am as she will not be seeing me for awhile.
