As far as I'm aware, it's only above the main grips on Raptors.

As for why...... it's just a different way to crack an egg so-to-speak.

I think it looks really cumbersome, and badly engineered when they are on top. I know it works fine, but it just looks pants.

With the flybar above the rotor the paddles won't cut the top of your gyro when you crash (common on trex450 for those who use the conventional gyro mounting position).

With the flybar above the rotor you have more blade clearance for bouncing the head button inverted on tarmac
...only problem is the button is either not there or part of the seesaw on a raptor, so bouncing it might send the whole thing out of control!

Why on some helis are the upper mix arms on the blade grips (Avant Aurorra, Dragonus) rather than on the seesaw?

Why does a 3DNT have a belt drive motor to rotor, and still run the rotor the normal direction so the engine has to be modified to run backwards?

So many questions with so many answers...

Because a single stage geared drive would reverse the direction of rotation. A belt drive keeps it going the same way.

For different mixing ratios and command ability over the flybar.
          I believe...
