Back on topic though Gixxer..... I would go FBL. Much more fun to fly ... in my opinion anyway. I think pretty soon everything will be going down the FBL route! I also feel it makes the machines look so much more slick aesthetically!

After reading a few other threads, I believe you're right, and I'm not going to turn down the chance of being aided by electronics, so I'll most likely go with a flybarless system... Thanks

I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but I don't want to buy a mismatch of parts that wont work together... so at the risk of being a pain... what gyros would people recommend for FBL?

I'll try not to ask any more questions

Beastx all the way. Especially for someone just getting into the hobby. Great performance, great price. There are other options but you will not go wrong with a Beast price wise. If you are willing to wait a bit Spektrum are releasing an Receiver\FBL unit that has Beast technology in it. Decent price also, will probably save you money as you won't have to buy a separate rx

That's just what I wanted to hear, thank you

I'm in no rush to buy the gear, as it will most likely be next spring before I start at it. I'll have a look into the Beastx gear, but if Spektrum are releasing something that will obviously work with their own gear, then I'll probably wait for that if it's coming soon.

          Thanks for the reply.

What you tend to find on a lot of forums, is when someone new comes in and asks a lot of questions, the regulars say 'Use the search facility, this has already been discussed numerous times'... the problem with that is, you end up bogged down with way too much information and pages of people arguing over which system is best, and you end up even more confused than when you started. It obviously isn't the case here, and I'm grateful for the help people have provided, it's been invaluable, and a great starting point, and it has saved me a lot of trawling through the net for answers.

Thanks again for all your help, greatly appreciated

Now I need to start sourcing parts...

The Raptor has a rebuilt OS61 SXH engine and an exhaust included, and I can have it for €200, so I'm thinking I'd be daft to turn it down at that price, so I'll probably buy it and see if I can get a set of blades for it.

I guess it's no harm owning two helis

They go real cheap at £200 you are probably paying over the top, just look at the airframes that are selling on here, I would make a offer for half that, I could have had JR SG electric airframe yesterday for about £200 quid...............

I dont think £200 is a bad price if its all ready to fly (rtf) as by buying just an airframe if you havent already got the servos, gyro, bat ect it will cost far more to put toghther

Apart from radio gear and main blades, it's ready to fly. I have the radio, and I believe a decent set of blades should cost around £50? I'll be happy enough if I can get it in the air for £250, but I will have a look at the for sale section here and see what sort of prices people are asking... thanks.

Thanks... I'm already struggling, but I can't afford the repair bills, so I will have to hold out until I'm fairly sure I can keep it in the air

I've been looking at a few videos on youtube, and there are some pretty good tutorials there on the Phoenix simulator. I'll have a look at those first, and if I feel I need to go for more in-depth tutorials, I'll have a look at those DVDs... thanks.
