I've been following this thread with interest.

I like you will be going up to a CP heli early next year, (well for me it will be) and the Blade 400 seems to be about as much as I'd want to spend.

Not that I can't spend more for a Trex class heli I just don't want to blow up wards of £800 to launch a 450 off the deck.

Unlike the 3D guys I'm not bothered about the stunt extreme flying side of chopper flying and will be just as happy doing what I am now with my BCX2 only having outside flying time with a better built heli.

The 400 seems to have all the alloy and bearing parts in the right places, and like the other E-flite models as the BCX2 more Alloy CNC parts will be available later on as an upgrade.

The 400 I think is about the same size as the 450, and rumors have said you can possibly use Trex blades on the 400.

As a package if the sales talk is correct it seems to be a good buy, and also one of the more expensive RTF helis out there.

Possibly later next year I may well buy the parts to build a Trex system I haven't counted that out as an option, only right now I have too many other things going on.

The people here are some of the friendliest and helpful going, and I know the Align helis set a bench mark for cheap spares and excellent build quality, however many flyer's haven't the kind of budget to go all the way with the expence, or expertise in building such an aircraft.

And I do feel such talk discounting anything other than Trex, must put off potential members and stop others from pursuing heli flying further than the basic heli I fly.

So in good nature and faith people know what the best is out there, but wouldn't it be just a tiny bit more helpful if someone who cant afford a Trex and has a budget of say £200 to advise and help that member to get the best out of what he/she can purchase, and not just, discount them as pure crap compared to Align build helis.

Please I'm not having a go at anyone, but someone spoke to me not long back and has decided to pack it in as he can't afford a Trex and thinks the other helis under it aren't worth the hassle, maybe it's partly true, but, the 400 hasn't even hit the high street yet, it comes with the best control system any RTF CP heli has to date, and it seems to have the basic alloy parts that are important as a RTF machine, that the competition hasn't, yet it's been judged, juried and now stands up the wall ready for the firring squad to end it there and then.

The CX & CX2 made the coaxial helis go that stage further with design and function, why don't we leave judgment to see how the 400 suffers after a few tests, sure it won't be up to Align standards, but many Trex flyers don't 3D there helis but just enjoy a good Ole fly around, surely that also can be counted as spending more than you need if you don't put the machine to it's limit.

For me what ever the 400 can acheave it will never do anymore than I basically do now with the CX2, only I'd like to fly more outside than in, with a reasonable priced machine that offers more than the current line of cheaper RTF helis.

My last 2 crashes on with the TREX have cost about £20 each (Thats bending every shaft and stripping the main gear). I don't rekon it's much cheaper to repair these cheap platic helis anyway.

The most common reason why people crash helis particularly in the early days is orientation. The tail on a cheap heli will tend not to hold to well unless you fit a decent gyro on it like the 401. If you look at the Blade 400 in the video the tail is soft and does not hold well at all and the experienced pilot is flying round it.

If you do buy the blade, budget in a 401 and 9257 servo. This will make the heli much more predictable as the tail will will need minimal corrections to stay in line.

The important thing here is that the heli you do buy has GOOD spares backup!

Thank you Richie, that's the kind of detail a rookie like me wouldn't notice in a video, and something I'd talk to my dealer about and attach before the first hover, jump, fiddly almost crash landing (to begin with).

And hopefully I could also count on the vast expertise you guys have in this field, even if I will be flying a cheapo RTF in my early days.

Cheers for that, nice one mate.
