  • just to say hi and ...

    Hi guy's,
have been looking round the forum's and have found it very fascinating .
i have always had a soft spot for model RC flying of copters and plane's was previousely a motor car head of the rc ring . But now really looking to get into this scene hopefully really wanting later to fly scaled model's .... would love a scaled seaking model .
Anyhow away with the dreaming to start i was browsing e-bay and came across this thought it'd be a cheep way to get a feel but as a novice thought i'd ask some of you expert's http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Walkera-3D-6CH...QQcmdZViewItem.

was also looking at the honey bee king 2 or cp2 . But was just looking at a cheep option just to practice and break i suppose hehe . just liked the idea of the bonus pack that comes with this .
thanks for looking and will no doubt be in touch again and again in time to come .

hi ninja, stay away from the walkera helis because they are sh ite.
i had a brushless honey bee king2 and that flew perfect.
the esky belt cp is even better.
    even better a t-rex 450
    cheers

there are lots of king2 on ebay but most of them are the brushed motor versions and not brushless. i bought my rtf brushless king2 from smart-r-c of ebay for £69 including shipping.
you should also look at getting a decent simulator to learn how to fly.
also i have seen a rtf esky belt cp on ebay for about £130 including shipping.
the belt cp would be your best bet. they are abit bigger than the king2 and would be abit more stable. they are about the same size as the trex 450. trex are great but cost alot more.

thunder tiger raptor 30/50 nitro are the best to learn on. they are much easier to fly and loads more stable but you would need to join a club and get your bmfa insurance.

i now find flying is farely easy - its getting the heli set up properly
        cheers

heard that the Esky's are pretty good but i dont like the look of them twin blade's on top i cant afford to be fussy hehe or i'd be setup in no time .. think i'll try find a decent king 2 or cp2 then .

Forget the small crap, the twin blades on top are a great way to start on a budget and also a real help when you want to move on to side in and nose in hovering, so even once you have bought a 'normal' heli they are a valuable training aid.

Have a good look at one of these, currently, proberbly the best out there.

If you are set on buying a crappy little electric thing than the only one to buy is a Trex 450, and that will cost you.

... oh, has anyone mentiond a SIM yet? if not then go and buy a copy of http://www.phoenix-sim.com/

get the esky king2 or the esky belt cp. the cx2 has 2 sets of main blades and doesnt fly like a proper rc heli.
                cheers

That is the difference, a beginner will actually be able to get a Blade to fly and be able to learn and enjoy, but will have little hope getting an eSky thing in the air under control and back on the ground in one peice.

What is Wrong with small electric ??? i have had a few glow in the past including and x-cell90 and a x-cell60 and i must say the t-rex is the most fun out of them all i took a break from this hobby but what i must say is my t-rex is in its box in my boot alot of the time and i can fly it on my lunch break at work and when im out and about i can fly. they have there place and the trex 450v2 is no where near crappy its a fantastic heli and will do alot more than alot of pilots can do ! if a cheap heli gets some one into the hobby without costing them and arm and a leg to find they dont like it then it can only be a good thing.

hmmm, I worded my post incorrectly, I was not meaning to put the Trex in to the 'crappy' catagory, just don't buy crappy, buy a Trex instead.

I love my little Trex more than any other heli I've owned and without it I would never have been able to progess as much as I have.

yes a trex i would like but unfortuanately being closer to X-mas , kid's are wanting and the War department (missus) is frowning on me spending to much money and saying " you'll have it 2 minutes and become bored of it ".
so i'm trying to find a small budget flyer just to taste and maybe when chrimbo over and nearer to the summer i'll be looking for something more to my like'ing and finding a club to fly with Finger's XX .
with saying that ive been browsing my nearest decent model shop and found 2 copter's and wondered if you had any comment's on these .. sorry to be a pain http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/RadioCo...hp?ProdID=2562

Yup...the CX2 is how I got interested..... it teaches you quiet a bit.... also gets you into the modd'ing and the repairing and you can get a quick hit fairly easily... i.e. You don't need to spend weeks before you can hover. An hour or so does it ...... after a week you can harrass the kids/wife/dog (delete as appropriate).

My Cx2 is about to leave me Son's off to boarding school 3 nights a week) and is taking the CX2 as a few of the boys there have them. Thet're forming a little club and apparently have use of the gym at night.... *pfffft* in my day we lived in a box and played with gravel
