  • Blade Balancing

So I'm setting up my Belt CP after the last un-scheduled landing and I decide to do the whole balance the blades thing. Opened the packet of EK4-0009 wooden Blades and stuck them on my scales and the first blade read 21.94grams and the second one read 21.95grams

???? How close do they need to be to each other ?
Also the C of G on both blades is virtually identical...maybe a millimeter apart.

    So what's to balance ? surely I don't balance down to 1/100th of a gram ?

Wouldn't think the C of G will cause any problems if thier only 1mm out. Best way to tell if thier within balance limits is to bolt them together and then balance the bolt between to glasses, this way you can see which is heavier and adjust as needed... or get a proper balancer

Well if the CG about the same and the weights within 1/100g then yeah, they are fine. The Align balancer my be useable for your blades and its only a couple of quid. Just two cones on a threaded 3mm shaft. But it works really well and can balance (though not weigh of course) your blades down easily to 1/100g, probably down to 0.005g in fact. For this reason i haven't bought any accurate scales, you'd need scales with a resolution of 0.0001g to better the Align Balancer - and at what cost????

Anyhow, you shouldn't get any noticable vibration due to your blades, they sound real close.
