Before you commit to anything have a long, hard think.
A lot of people, myself included, started this hobby with a cheap RTF and would (if it were legal) take it back and feed it peice by peice to the goon who sold it to you.
Put it this way, the T-Rex 450 is seen as excellent value for money @ c.£320 for the kit alone.
If you can aquire/justify the expenditure 7-800 quid gets you a great heli, a good 2.4 radio (DX7) that'll fly any model you eventually get, access to heaps of spares and advice and quality servos, Rx and Gyro.
It seems like a lot of cash but you DO get what you pay for.

              Duncan.

Yep, same here, but without that crappy RTF thing you may have never have started this hobby.

You got 2 choices. Trex 450se v2. Yep it is worth the money no matter what level your at. Or if you have a friendly club near by then take a look at a knight 50 sport. Cost will be similar. Which ever you choose phoenix should be your next purchase.

just bear in mind that a T-rex 450 is a stunning machine but as new starter you'd be better off with a 30/50 size machine. The weather in the UK isn't always nice and having a 50 machine will mean you can go and fly even in 15-20mph winds.

Learning with a T-rex you wont want to go out above 8mph...

Had a few people with T-rex 450s come to the club as there flying is starting to out grow there gardens.. They've seen the 50's flying in strong winds and they have gone to 50 machines!

As Ade said the price of a T-rex your into 30/50 nitro size machines

I should have posted a bit better, I have a 50 size scale Bell but i don't trust myself with it yet ! As well as a Futaba Heli radio and kit.

I'm out growing the hummingbird but want something a little bigger and electric to practise in the garden on still evenings.

                        Cheers, Matt.

I refer the Right Honourable Gentleman to the post I made some moments ago.
                              Lol.
Everybody has their favourites, I don't mind what Heli I own as long as it works, it just so happens that for the dosh the 450SE rocks.
You'll struggle to find a better, cheaper to run/crash, well known (easy parts aquisition) capable Heli on the market.
