The last two replies were brilliant! Thanks Guys.
Made things alot clearer and answered some of my main questions.I will get the DX4E with my 120 SR as that sounds adequate,i will avoid the X-B0X looking trans like the plague! lol.
I'll also take a look at Heliguy.
    Thanks alot Fellas.

I think youve already made your mind up
If budget is stoping you from getting a half desent tx then i would say go with the rtf version, its obvious your itching to get your hands on a blade 120 which ive got to say are great fun, a friend of mine just bought one.
If you do find you want to expand later then dont say we didnt tell you so lol
But at least you got what you wanted when you wanted.

If you wait long enough someone will eventually give you the answer you wanted to hear

I would still say you are wasting your money, I have a DX4e which came with my mCPX RTF and it compares very poorly to the DX6i. Yes you can use it for what you want but it is still a very poor way to control a heli in terms of feel, flexibility and future use.

Money is a limitation for virtually all of us and sometimes it is worth waiting for the better product and buying once than rushing to purchase what you can afford right now only to end up finding you need to buy again next time around as well.

Expo and rates on the tx are really useful when learning. Expo makes the centre less sensitive and rates allow you to reduce the control sensitivity. Outdoors is best just before dark as the wind often drops right down. The wind close to the ground is slower than higher up. If flying near a fence you might find the wind increases as you get above it. Usually into the garden with a dog.

Buy in haste, repent in leisure. With each little upgrade to the next bigger and better, comes the undeniable pleasure of achievement. This creates the want for the next upgrade thing again. It's a heli thing, no escaping it. Buy the best you can afford, fly the arse off it, enjoy it for what it is and when the bug really bites, go rob a bank.

How about buying a second hand DX6i? you can get them for £40-60 on eBay. I know you dont wan't CP now but once you get bored of FP you may change your mind. I started with the same Syma as you, then moved to a Nine Eagles Solo Pro (4 channel FP), then to the MSR which is like the Solo Pro but much more maneuverable.. and finally moved to the MCPX.. I never thought I'd go to CP either. Also you'll always be able to sell the DX6i at practically no loss so in the long term you are saving... in any case good luck.

Dx6i or any other Spektrum series range of transmitters binds with all the horizon/eflite, parkzone stuff, so probably the most versatile.

DX6i is really bottom of the range programmable transmitter but will deal with most anything. DX5 and DX4 are just basic transmitters.

Lets put it this way I have 2 dx6i's - a dsm2 and a dsmx; I use mine for Helis Planks and Phoenix - I don't see myself needing anything else unless I go for Gliders (that need more complex programming to work at their full potential) or Scale that need more channels for retracts, lighting etc.
Anyone who knows me would tell you that I'm not the sort of person to blow money unless there is good reason for it - I think that just about sums it up, don't you???
Do yourself a big favour either wait until you can afford what's needed or blow the money anyway!!!

If someone thinks that flying a 3 channel heli is fun, then they show all the symptons of heli addiction. Protesting a lot is another give away, as is finding a forum called heliaddicts. As someone said, it just gets better with every heli. I've flown rc since 1980 and managed to keep things under control, but there's something different about helis.
