Yes.you may have too much neg pitch, put throttle hold on,go to mid stick and see if you have zero pitch.

The servo action on the MCPX (at least on mine) couldn't be described as smooth.
As for the brake action, that's normal, it's a tiny but tight motor, with very little mass in the head.

But, set a linear pitch curve and 0 throttle curve in hold. Power up the heli, make sure you don't move it until after the heli initialises. Then in hold, slowly raise the throttle. Blades shouldn't spin, obviously, but eyeball the swash from bottom to top movement, it should remain level. You may need to adjust the elevator link a bit to keep it level.

On mine the ele servo sometimes throws a wobbly and the swash movement is crazy, a reset and or a servo clean usually fixes it but a clean shouldn't be needed on your new bird.

Thanks Guys, will check out as per your advice...

So the servo twitching (when not touching the control sticks) is normal too. Saw it on a You Tube video... weird. On my old RC cars from years ago it was a sign of interference and the other two helis I have don't do it..

Will check the pitch later today and let you know what I find.

You may find theres a few degrees of neg at mid stick, most people i know who have had the bnf version have needed to undo 2 turns on swash to servo links to get 0 at mid

            Hey,

Checked but heli pitch was set up correctly... i just had not understood that in 3D helis there is actually negative pitch in the first half of throttle travel but it is neutral at 50%. So I changed some of the settings and made the pitch neutral to 50% throttle travel. Also reduced the D/R from 70% to 45% and changed to the bullet main blades. Great! now i can hover!! will slowly get used to it and then go back to manual settings... however broken one tail boom already, the flat bit at the end has splintered. I've siliconed it till I get a replacement but it seems pretty fragile.

The servo chatter is totally normal. They make a right racket!!!! This heli is by no means perfect... it has it flaws.. but it does the job and is lots of fun. The tail boom does crack very easily. If you watch the tail fin when you fly is it a blur or is it solid? If its solid you will get by until you get a new one. But if its a blur it could be tricky to fly. Are you using the stock batteries?? If so... get some better ones. Lots of options. The Overlander ones are really good. Make sure you check the d of the main shaft is lined up with the d of the main gear after each bump too. And check it has not slipped down on the shaft

Flew the mcpx outside today.. managed to break the tail boom. Did the carbon rod conversion but now the plastic motor housing has cracked where the rod goes into it.. I guess that will mean a whole new tail boom assembly?
It was on soft settings and a little windy so did not do much more than hover around and try bring it back when gusts moved it off.. but crashed loads. Also the drive gear seems to slip off the shaft very easily. But all in all it was fun!

Seems that spares are running a bit low.. my local shop does not have any booms in stock and told me that they've been waiting for them for a while. Could not find any shop on net that has them showing as in stock. Now jsut thinking of getting the aluminium motor housing so at least I can cary on flying. What do you guys think?

Check the Asteroid Design tail motor mount. I've been trouble free since getting one. No more messing about with a broken tail/housing after each session. It also deals with the availability or rather unavailability of spare parts. It only took 6 days to arrive from States. I was out flying in the wind today too. It started to rain so I packed up early.
