  • Blade CX2 Grub screws.

    Evening Gents,
Just a quick question really, I managed to loose one on the small Black hex grub screws from the aluminium lower head on my CX2, does any one know off hand what size it is and where I can get some from, I don't think that are any in the hardware spares pack judging by what I' ve seen in the manual but I stand to be corrected on that. The little beast still flys with one in but I want another to balance things up.

    Thanks
    Kevin.

You can always use the black screws that attached the plastic lower rota head.

They do exactly the same thing, and wont make any difference.

Thanks for your reply but you obviously don't have the latest eflite aluminium lower head, I know from state side forums that the original blue lower head did not come with screws, maybe you had use the original screws? this a newish item so maybe they modified it. It uses hex grub screws closer to 3mm where as the screws from the plastic head, besides being 2 times too long are less than 2mm in diameter. I'm hoping that 3 by 3 mm will do the trick, I'll shall get some and let you know how I get on, I can't be the only one who has lost one. Playing around with these little heli's is so much more fun when the spares are so cheap.

      Thanks again.

Crap sorry mate, I went to bed last night thinking was I right, and this morning I took one of my Grubs out and tried the screw... sorry.

I've had a look in my tub of bits and I haven't any grubs but loads of screws, call your dealer, I'm sure will have a few kicking about.

The E-flite "Hardware set" comes with all the screws for everything except the grubs for the CNC LRH, so don't bother buying that, as I have one for spares.

One thing, check it isn't magnetically attached to one of the motors, daft as it sounds but most of my screws get caught by those if I miss align a screw and drop it

I had a look around the motors but no go, I have tried a 3mm bolt in the head and it works so a 3 x 3 mm grub screw should do the trick, RS do them by the shed load, I have also drilled the case on my 4 in 1 to try and reduce the heat induced tail drift, only had one go as yet and it seemed to be better, only time will tell.
          regards.

PS. is the blue swash any better apart from the bling?

            Hello Gents,
Just to let you kow that the 3mm by 3mm grub screws are definately the ones for the eflight ally heads, quite easy to get hold of too.

            regards
            Kevin.

Thought I'd let you CX2 flyers know......
I bought the ally head set for the little CX2 and as sods law would have it I bent it. I was considering the wisdow of buy this 'expensive' part (compared to the plastic one) when I discovered that for the Ally bling part you can just buy the metal rod and replace that instead of either a new complete ally head or the complete plastic one.

So the investment of the ally head will not only look cooler but will save you a couple of quid in the long run.

I've just replaced my inner shaft as well. according to USA forums you can straighten both inner and outer shafts, I'm going to try and find some steel rod or piano wire so I can make my own inners, they are far more vulnerable than the outers, the rod diameter is 77 thou, or .077, arm your self with a micrometer and try and find some, dremel some flats and your away.

                  regards

PS Fitted an alum swash last night, much tighter control, my plastic swash was coming apart, I squeezed it back together with a little 'click', this is commmon cause of the toilet bowl effect I hear, something to keep an eye on.
